Hi - I'm heading to WDW in Oct. I've heard of the Not So Scary Halloween Party but don't know much about it other than kids can get treats, dress up in costumes, etc ... How late does it let you stay in the park? Are most rides/attractions still operating during this time? Is it typically packed? Do you guys think it's worth the extra dough? Thanks!

The party is from 7 PM to midnight. The majority of attractions are open, but most people focus on the Halloween entertainment (fireworks, parade, stage shows, dance parties, meet & greets, trick-or-treating). I didn't feel it was crowded as we went to one of the less crowded parties, but I'm sure it can't get as bad as a normal MK night.

It was worth it to us because we had never done it before, and the nighttime offerings were exclusive and fantastic. I wouldn't do it every year though.

Went two years ago. Cost was less than $70 at the time. Yes the party starts at 7pm till 12 am, but they let you in at 4pm. People without arm bands are ushered out at 7pm. I think it is worth it at least once. The ride of the headless horseman, parade (loved the grave diggers) , treats for kids (big and small , three bags full) , and seeing characters not normally seen. Great Time.

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
And trick or treating is for everyone not just kids. We are just 2 adults and we trick or treat and so do many other adults without kids with them. It's encouraged for everyone to trick or treat they even give everyone a bag for it when you walk in. ;)

It's a fun time. They have special shows and stuff like that for the event, which is cool if you are into that. It's also kind of cool to see people dressed up (I wouldn't mind going in full Game of Thrones or Doctor Who outfit if I were to go back for it). Basically depends how into it you want to get and if you are into Halloween. But it is a good time and I doubt you'd regret doing it at least once.

hello! universal and bush gardens annual pass holder here.
we typically pick a day to 3 days in disney each year since i have a 4 year old that still loves disney.
this year we have picked September 23rd since it is little man's 5th birthday to do the halloween party.

we plan on leaving the clearwater area around 1pm to try to get in like most folks say around 4pm.
this way we can do some rides, since my son is going to want to do that.

i went and read a lot of planner websites and they all basically say to skip rides and the trick or treating.
this is OBVIOUSLY not going down like that since i have children with me.

does anyone have any suggestions or plan of attacks?
last year we did the florida resident 3 day 3 parks and i planned it all out to the T.
unfortunately by the end of day 3 our feet were going to fall off.
the only thing we missed was the projection show on the castle, but only because it malfunctioned after 60 seconds and was cancelled... we luckily saw the Christmas version the year before.

i definitely want to hit all three key halloween shows, but id like to know how realistic it is to also trick or treat and hit a decent amount of rides.

anyone with children have a solid plan of attack to share?

i also see that the more expensive days and Fridays are kind of busy.
september days arent as crowded.
but, they also added extra days this year.
i sort of anticipate a MEDIUM crowd level on Friday the 23rd of September.
am i off on that?

Great time and got lots of treats. The paddle boat was fun too. They had someone telling ghost stories and then music from the guys who usually play in Frontierland (can't remember what they are called). Parade is better than normal one and fireworks are my favorite.

Whether or not it's worth it depends. If you and your kids are absolutely dying to see a Disney Halloween parade and trick-or-treat in the Magic Kingdom and are willing to pay $67-$105 per person, then go for it. If not, I would pass.

Another thing to consider is how late you will be able to stay. Are your kids old enough to stay up late or will they be done by 9? If you can arrive at 4 and stay until midnight it might be worth it. If you can't, it might not.

We did it once. Our kids had fun, but no more fun than they did any other night in the Magic Kingdom. They were more interested in the rides than in the parade and candy. Not only would we not do it again, we regretted doing it as soon as we realized that we had just paid $300 for a few pieces of candy and a Halloween parade. It felt like a rip-off. But I know I am in the minority. Most people seem to love it. When we were there the the Main Street Electrical Parade ran on nights they didn't have the Halloween Party. We all thought it was much better than the Halloween parade and we didn't have to pay extra to see it.

If you do go, remember you are paying nearly as much--or more depending on the date--for the Halloween party as you would a one day theme park admission. You might consider letting the Halloween Party be your only them park admission for that day (arrive at 4 to take advantage of the time) and doing something other than a theme park earlier that day (water park, Disney Springs, hotel pool, traveling to Orlando).

it came out to $357 plus tax.
i plan on leaving the area at about 1 when my little one usually naps and hoping he sleeps all the way there.
it should work out well.
we did the christmas event when he was 2 and he didnt make it too long lol.
my daughter is 10 and will make it to midnight.
planning on being there from 4pm to midnight hopefully.

Most attractions are open. You get in at 4:00pm and it ends at midnight. Anyone can dress up but it will still be Florida weather so don't do hot costumes we made that mistake once and nearly died from the heat. As for the crowd levels, they vary depending on when you go. The earlier NSSHPs that usually start in late September are not that crowded, but when you get to the last week of October they get to be crowded and usually are sold out events. If you do it I recommend trying for earlier parties because we have done the ones the last week in October before and they were so crowded that it took away from the fun because lines were long and you felt crowded.

I went in 2013 and it was loads of fun! I remember trying to figure out if we could swing going another night. :) I definitely recommend it! It's not too packed and several rides are open. Plus, the Boo to You parade is one of the best!

We went in 2015 and our DD was 15 months old. We were total n00bs and missed the parades, but we rode a ton of rides while everyone else was getting candy, and doing M&G's (daughter would not have waited in those lines). We loved seeing everyone in costumes, but were really bummed we missed the parade. The Halloween firework display was really nice. Our DD slept through them. I'm glad we did it, and we'd probably do it again once our DD was old enough to do the things without too much complaining. LOL

Don't expect to get many rides in.
The parties are now quite packed and after regular hours it seems as if it takes them longer to get an attraction back up after a malfunction, possibly due to decreased maintenance staff.

If you don't go in costume you're missing a lot of the fun.

Agree. While I have an AP my only time in a park is MK during MNSSHP. I plan to be in DS during the day. If you purchase multiple day tickets don't use them on party day. Arriving at 4 and staying to midnight is 8 hours anyway.
