Exactly. Are the folks that regularly post here not repeat-visitors? There are no locals that visit WDW? I was thinking the exact same thing… They’re all expecting to see the same things every year and don’t expect to see anything new? And they’re cool with that? Well, clearly, some are. It’s not making sense.

If TDA really thought we always needed new things, why are we still watching Believe… In Holiday Magic and A Christmas Fantasy every year for Christmas? Both shows are 20+ years-old, one of them debuting in the 1900s lol. I thought we were special and needed new things all the time? Maybe they’ll eventually start caring as much as they care about OBB and give us new Christmas entertainment in the near future. Not holding my breath, though.

TDO is simply cheap and they don’t want to provide new experiences for their guests for Halloween. Period. They know plenty of fans will support the same BS excuse. As you stated, the folks putting on OBB in Anaheim care enough to deliver new characters and new things to see. That’s what’s going on here.
I agree, it's sad really. At the same time why change it up when it sells out each year with no changes. Cause it's the only family friendly Halloween even in town it will always do well. IMO Universal does Halloween much better

Seaworld also has a family friendly offering during the daytime included with the park ticket. Plenty of trick of treating, fun costumes, neat entertainment; it’s just a harder sell due to the lack of family attractions at the park that hopefully is addressed soomer rather than later

True, but, at the same time, as @GiveMeTheMusic pointed out, Oogie Boogie sold out pretty much immediately prior to any announcements about any potentially new offerings. And yet the event still got new offerings. Meanwhile, MNSSHP hasn’t sold out yet. Why is that?

They don't care about WDW. Sorry to say it but to the leaders WDW is there for the money it makes. What gets me is the amount of posts from people hating what's going including this party yet continue to go.

To an extent, those who run the DLR are in it for the money, too. However, I do think the DLR benefits from its size and status. It’s not a behemoth of a theme park resort with a gazillion factors going for it. There are two parks, a shopping center, and three hotels; I believe it’s easier, in some ways, for it to operate almost like a mom & pop shop, whereas WDW is the more corporate one because of its design, sheer size, and overall appeal (DLR can be corporate at times, too). The “blessing of size” seems to not have really worked in its favor, specifically in terms of what we’ve been talking about recently in this thread (putting in effort for new things to offer its fans). And to be fair, DL guests still show up at the parks, no matter what, too.

Hopefully things will change and WDW will start putting in more effort for the holiday parties for the sake of the fans.

DLR special events are notorious for selling out quickly. Mahalloween 2014, for example, lasted about 18 hours IIRC... 400 guests over 4 hours on the 29th of Sep got to experience snacks, drinks, Imagineer presentations and Hawai'ian music for an hour each, and each paid $125 for the privilege. The swag was nice, tho'.

What makes no sense to me is the simple changes or additions that need to be made cost them basically nothing in comparison to what they charge and again can probably charge an extra $1 per ticket to offset that cost lol…

Exactly! If we’re comparing the changes at the DLR, all it would take is a few costumes and hiring several actors to play character parts. That’s it.

I think the point he’s making is DLR cut Villianous WOC this year for no reason.

Villainous being cut again is certainly a bummer, but I think it got pretty criticized? I know most people I follow said it was a skip.

Perhaps they've decided to cut until they can rework a new show / version?
