I am planing a trip on Dec 3rd to 13th. And would love more info on this celebration.
What is it?
Will I have to get tickets for this plus the normal entrance fee?
Is it worth it?
I love Wishes & Spectromagic and still want to see them if possible.

All the info possible for that time of the year would be great.

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is a must for any hardcore Disney fan. You must attend it at least once. It is a hard ticket event which means you must buy a separate ticket for it and only those with tickets for the event are allowed to attend. Attendance is limited so typically (and especially during the time in which you will be there) the crowds will be less than normal hours. Most of the attractions will be open. There are several special performances throughout the park. There is a special Christmas parade (sorry but no SpectroMagic) and special fireworks. Free cookies and hot cocoa are distributed in different locations throughout the park. Also, they make it snow on Main Street! :sohappy: It's a lot of fun and worth doing at least once though the tickets can be steep (around $45). Make sure that you buy your tickets in advance to assure that you get in on the date you want. Hope that answers your questions.

EDIT: Oh yeah, welcome to the boards! Come back often. There are alot of knowledgeable people around here who can answer any and every question you might have.

Go!

MVMCP is a hard-ticket event, and some naysayers complain that the Christmas activities should be available to the general public all throughout the season instead of just Christmas week. But here are some reasons that I love this event:

1. The tickets are about $40, but you'll get into the park at 4:00 through Midnight. Hardly anyone will be there for the week you're at WDW, which means that the cost is worth skipping lines.

2. The fireworks and parade are stunning, and are very much like the grand entertainment that was once more common at WDW.

3. Characters are everywhere. If you ever wanted to get a picture with Belle in her Christmas outfit, this is the place.

4. Free cookies and hot chocolate don't sound like a big deal, but you'll appreciate them when the temperature gets nippy.

5. Snow on Main Street. Soapsuds may not seem like a big deal; but when they gently fall during the parade with "We Need a Little Christmas" playing and toy soldiers marching, you'll recapture the excitement you had on Christmas morning when you were a kid.

MVMCP is one of the most popular events at WDW; make sure you buy your tickets when they go on sale (about mid September or October). Honestly, though, December 3-13th is a relatively mild Guest crowd period, and you shouldn't have too much trouble getting tickets.

About the only part of the night that you can simply ignore is the castle show. "Celebrate the Season" is a bland, HR-friendly mish-mash of "Seasons Greetings" wishes. :snore: The world culture tour belongs at Epcot, not a boring 20-minute show in front the castle. Just the same, every time the show starts, the crowds get a little thinner! :sohappy:

GO!

Almost forgot:

You're going to be at WDW for 10 days. Just watch Spectro and Wishes on another night.

The posters before me pretty much covered everything, all I have to add is that MVMCP should absolutely NOT BE MISSED!!! My wife and I (along with my sister, nephew and cousin) went last week during the exact same week you are going(Dec 3rd-10th) and we were blown away. You get the best of both worlds...the magic of Christmas and the magic of Disney, it's almost sensory overload. Warning! Christmas at Walt Disney World will absolutely ruin you for Christmas anywhere else! I can't fathom anyplace else on the planet going all out for the holidays like Disney does, it's truly amazing.

Before I go, here are a few MUST SEES during the Christmas season at Walt Disney World...

*The Holiday version of Wishes and the MVMCP parade(only during MVMCP)
*The Country Bears Christmas show at MK(IF they decide to do it this year)
*The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights at MGM(absolutley amazing)
*The Candlelight Processional at EPCOT
*The Holiday version of Illuminations at EPCOT
*Holidays Around the World at World Showcase in EPCOT(it is awesome! there are street performers in each country sharing how each country celebrates the Holiday season and Definitely be sure to catch the Voices Of Liberty Singers in the American Pavillion singing classic Christmas songs!)
*The Lights of Winter over the walkway between Future World and World Showcase
*Mickey's Jingle Jungle Parade at Animal Kingdom
*The ginger bread house at The Grand Floridian
*The Massive Christmas tree in the lobby of The Wilderness Lodge
*The Christmas Village at Animal Kingdom Lodge

Have a great trip and WELCOME TO WDWMAGIC!!!

It's well worth it. You definitley should go. You also might want to arrange to spend some time doing things at your hotel resort on the day you're going to MVMCP and you can relax before you go to the party. That reminds me of when I was in the planning stages for my last trip to WDW this past December. To make my itinerary and to give me an idea of where & when I needed to be somewhere I created a few spreadsheets on my computer listing times for parades & shows...also the hours of each park and my dinning reservations. I think I narrowed it down to seven possible intineraries. Talk about over planning. LOL! I know you have to go with the flow at Disney and not be a slave to an itineray. But because I started making reservations months in advance I had to do something to keep me occupied instead of looking at the calender chanting "I can't wait to get to Disney, I can't wait to get to Disney"

I can't really add anything to what the others have said. We loved MVMCP. I would love to do it again someday. The parade and fireworks were awesome. My son (almost 4 at the time) took tons of pics. He was bouncing up and down during the parade. Stuff like that made it worth the extra money.

One more thing...
If you go, go early a couple of hours. You will probably be able to get in at that time and you will also not get caught in one of the lines to get your arm band. Nothing is worse than waiting in a line while the activities have already begun. Have a Merry Christmas!! :xmas:

Also, does anyone know if they are still taking the free pictures at MVMCP?

Thanks

Well Thank you all very much

I will not miss any of this celebration.

I guess I will have to go to the magic kingdom more than once on my trip if I want to see Spectromagic & Wishes again.

Oh Darn

Have a magical day

A MVMCP ticket allows 4:00 entry, which is about 2 hours before the park closes to the other Guests. Definitely get your wristband as soon as possible to enjoy the Christmas festivities!

Yes, a complimentary photo is still included in the price of admission. Since that alone is worth about $13, your price for the party isn't really too bad.

I went to MVMCP 12/06 and there were no pictures any longer.
They have gotten rid of some of the perks in the past few years. First the pins, then the pictures. I used to like them both!! Oh well, still well worth it!

I attend the party every year; the pictures are still available, but the method has changed.

There is no longer a specific photo location. Now, you can get your picture taken at any of the Photopass spots. The photographer will give you a special MVMCP card, and you can select one of the event pictures as your free photo.

They prefer that you pick up the photo the same night, but you can also order it for a very limited time online.

Everything I've seen says that now the photo is 50% of instead of free. I even saw several different things last year that said the free photo was no longer offered. :( I remember being so disappointed. We didn't even have a photo taken this past year since we weren't getting the free one. Thanks for the info. I'll be sure to ask this year.

Little FYI on other X-mas specials. The gingerbread house at the GF is the largest display but not the only food carving display at the resorts. We were there from Dec 9-18 last year and found a Gippettto? and Pinnochio chocolate carving at the Contemperary, a pirate village display at Carribean Beach and a small gingerbread display at the yacht and Beach Club. All of them had hidden Mickey's that we had to find. We are planning another trip in '08 and considered another time of year but realized there is no better time to be at WDW other than Christmas.

I agree that MVMCP is not to be missed for any Disney fan. I would also strongly suggest catching the various special shows and concerts rather than worrying about catching rides. For example, there is a great brass band that plays in adventureland early...later in the evening they are in the parade.

I also want to reinforce visiting the various resorts, particularly deluxes.

Check out the following for a great summary:

The offer I have says "One Free 5x7 and 50% off Additional Prints."

But I went in mid-November. Perhaps this policy changed by December?
