Mickey Mouse year question

Hello,

I had a questions that I am sure someone can give me an answer.

I recieved at Mickey Mouse Fleece for Christmas from my father. He purchased it at the Disney Store.

It has a picture of Mickey on the front and says Classic Character since 1932 on it.

Mickey came on the scene in 1928 didn't he?

Does the term "Classic Character" have something to do with 32?

I would assume the Disney Store would not mess up, right?

Me and the rest of my store want to know the same thing. I cannot tell you how many people came up to us this holiday season asking if it was a mistake or what the story behind it was.

We dunno whats up with it... all the other merchandise says 1928.

The only thing I can think of from 1932 is the premiere of Goofy as Dippy Dawg. Goofup, perhaps?

Well, I sent a message to Disney Store online. Read what I wrote and there response. Needless to say, they did not explain it.


What I wrote:

This might be a dumb question but
here it goes. I recieved a red
Mickey Mouse fleece for Christmas
that was purchased at a local
Disney Store. It has a picture
of Mickey and says Mickey under
him. Under that it says "Classic
Character Since 1932". Last I
checked he was established in
1928, correct? Is this a mistake
or am I missing something here?

The reason for the difference in years is because before Classic Mickey
we had Steamboat Willy and others. Classic Mickey was established in
1932.
