Do the sticks come from sustainable sources or do Disney recycle. Given the volumes they use surely this would be a major target in their ecological plans

Due to Disney's high quality standards, only 1 popsicle stick can be made from an entire birch tree. The rest of the tree is simply burned in an open pit. The sticks can never again be used for popsicles as the freezing and thawing process reduces the structural integrity of the wood. It is my understanding that they are collected and laminated together into clubs that work quite well in the "collection" of baby seals.
