Micheal Mann producing new parade in magic kingdom?

For a parade...? Doubtful.

The original quote from the OP was that "it would upset parade fanatics because it wasn't gonna be the traditional parade down Main Street. They wanted to show off the whole park and have it be more about the entertainment and not just the floats"

So.. it made sense to me that, in the taping of the parade, they would cut away to different sections of the parks. Maybe not a dance party in the everyday sense. But I could easily see a new choreographed dance in each of the lands - Esp New Fantasyland.

Overheard them saying that it would be totally different for people to see a float come around the corner of splash mountain or another place in the park instead of just down main street. Made it sound like they wanted to spread it over the park and show it off better.

If they were to do the Christmas Parade all over the park, that's going to create a major traffic jam everywhere. I haven't been in WDW for a taping of the Christmas Parade, but don't they basically close down Main St. and only the "Extras" are allowed while everyone else is confined (and I use that loosely) to the other lands of the park?

To do segments of a parade in each land would surely be chaos.

So, wait, no parade down Main Street? Oh, I can see the numerous threads, flaming, on this one.....

You mean for the Christmas morning abc show? It wouldn't be the first time. One year, right before DCA opened they did the show on Christmas Eve instead of Christmas morning. It wasn't so much a parade as it was the Whose Line is it Anyway guys doing a "comedy" bit looking for Santa Claus, Frankie Muniz looking to take girls on a tour of the unopened park, and lots of other C-list stars of the day singing. I don't even think they had anything that resembled a parade. Then I believe one year they skipped it all together.
Every year it gets less and less focused on the parade itself and more emphasis on which Disney Channel star has a new album, which abc star has a new "very special" episode of, Samantha Brown telling us how awesome Aulani is, and which current pop star is going to butcher a Christmas standard.
I still love to watch it and make it event tv in my house but I really miss the days when they gave you the feeling it was live on Christmas morning, it was all about seeing the park, they would have the temperature on the screen, do little snippets of what's new and upcoming, and really got you excited about your next trip. Now it just seems they just want us to know how hip and cool they are.
My opinion is if they can get a parade through Manhattan on Thanksgiving Day for 4 hours they can get something decent done at the Magic Kingdom on Christmas morning in two hours.

Anyone can participate, but Cast Members are invited to attend with their family for free.

Michael Mann? Seems a little silly an accomplished director will be doing a parade at Disney World. I look forward to the pastels and music inspired action scenes.
Michael Mann is producing....not directing. Big difference.
I'm guessing its a different Michael Mann. Unless he is a huge Disney parade fan.
It could very well be THAT Michael Mann. He could easily produce this without even stepping foot in the park during filming as simply a "cash grab" producer. ( I had to work that phrase in here somehow!)

Yes the point being is that yes, there is a new production company for the Christmas parade this year. Or so it looks.

I'm also guessing that it will not go over well with the usual parade attendees.

It's about time! The Christmas parade has been awful for the last few years with canned screaming, rapid-fire camera cuts, and lousy musical "talent." When my nieces and nephews got bored and turned it off last year, I knew Disney had lost its demographic. Here's hoping for a better parade! :D

What we've also learned is that a mid-level worker bee for this new production company has no clue that he needs to conduct his hired business for an important client in private, and not in a crowded gate departure lounge at MCO.

I wonder what other proprietary information this idiot has spilled as he mindlessly blabs into his phone at Starbucks and Costco and busy airports?

This sounds like a plot from Miami Vice. Are Crockett and tubs gonna go running down Main Street after Colombians?

Any possibility this "source" works for Transit instead of Entertainment?

No… but apparently they took down scores. And midway through the Christmas parade we're going to have a tea party with Robert De Niro and Al Pacino out in the middle of Main Street. It's going to be awkward in the critics are gonna wonder why it took an hour and a half for us to get to that point.

Or better yet… Maybe we can get Daniel Day Lewis to host. Then he can reprise his role as Hawkeye from last of the Mohicans. The perfect Adventureland segment would involve him rescuing Pocahontas from the evil British… then he can do some softshoe before coming to the commercial break and he's reprising Mr. Lincoln in front of hall of presidents.

Lightship Productions (http://www.lightshipmedia.tv/) is kind of known for their rapid fire editing. It's like a trademark of theirs. All of their Disney stuff is like that. It's almost as if Disney doesn't want you to get a good look at anything.

So I welcome a change.
Poor misquote and missing comma. It is Michael, man!

Poor post.

We have no idea what post you are even referring to.
