Michael Eisner Day!

Someone already based a villian on him of course it wasn't in a disney flick. One of the animators on Shrek was a former Disney animator who didn't like Eisner and thus Lord Farquad was born. But in all seriouness I think although Eisner has had his falt over all he has been a solid leader of this company. I don't thing he desirves the recognition that Walt gets or those that are honored on the main street windows. (All people who helped get the magic kingdom started) But I think maybe a small thank you will be in order.

they can also do for Eisner what they did for Ron Miller, base a villain on him. I read somewhere that the animator of Ratigan for the Great Mouse Detective based the look of the character on Ron Miller to get back at him for something :goodnevil

This is true I have a few friends who are cast members and I can't think of one who likes him.

It's always been about the money. The perspectives of what how you perceived what he is/was doing for Disney is what has changed. Being in his position, the bottom line was always money.

God, people...get over yourselves. The company would not be in business today had Michael Eisner not come along...take a look at how much has come about since he joined.

Ha ha, yeah, now Disney has a part in the industry and the like! I agree with a good swift kick in the butt for Eisner! When he signed up, he gave this whole big story about how he loved the Disney classics and watched them time and time again when he was a child. Truth is, he didn't see ANY of them until he was hired and had kids of his own!!! Have you ever heard the story of the guy who was fired by Roy because he made a joke starring Mickey Mouse and the other characters??? He worked for the Disney company for a total of 4 hours!!! Now, because of Eisner, Disney is invested in the ographic market!!!!

Dogsy,

Which of the things on your list did Eisner create? Imagine? Which did he invent?

He was just the Big Bean Counter that the artists and inventors had to go to for financial support. I'll give ME that, he got the bucks coming in. That should get him a portrait at corporate headquarters or even a bust. But as far as an Eisner exhibit in the parks -- forget it. Not even a restaurant named after him as far as I'm concerned.

(Wasn't he in Fantasia 2000 -- at the beginning? Maybe not.)

Well...magic doesn't grow on trees...it requires money which Eisner got for the company. Had he not come, the money wouldn't have, and consequently the magic wouldn't have come to life. Kinda like a Roy/Walt relationship, with the Imagineers playing Walt, coming up with tons of ideas, and Eisner playing Roy, telling them what they can afford to build and finding the money for the best of their best ideas. All that stuff I listed, Eisner didn't think up, but he did manage to find the money for them; he helped generate a company that could make the money to build them. That's why I think he is important to the company. Personally, what seems the most logical to me, is not to have Michael shaking hands with Walt...that is for the Imagineers to do in the statue I think they deserve. I think Michael should be shaking hands with Roy...and I think it should be located outside "Michael's Park"...right where the blow up Stitch is right now. He wouldn't be in the park, because he didn't think it up, but more on the sidelines.

Well, I can tell you one thing for sure: We wouldn't have AE is not for Mike.

See, Michael had just recently gained 'control' of the company and knew that the parks were in drastic need of improvement. While walking thru the WDI concept dept., he came across a few younger Imagineers who were working on a sensory attraction based on a horrifying alien encounter. The other Imagineers looked down on this group and their alien attraction because they felt it did not have any part in a Disney park. Well, good ol Mike saw it and thought it was exactly what the park needed. So he gave them the go ahead to run with it and it's now one of the most popular attractions ever built.

We also know from last night he came up with the idea of a bug attraction that would be the most popular 3D attraction in the parks, It's Tough to Be a Bug!

I'm sorry, but where have all the ideas that Eisner actually invented something come from. Surely everyone knows that Walt Disney gets the credit for everything that is achieved and created at WDW - Seriously.
Eisner is just the head 'Bean Counter' at Disney, nothing more.

um...hate to break it to you, but Walt has been dead for over 30 years...he is no longer behind everything that comes to Disney World...and just to let you know, the idea of Michael coming up with these ideas came from the Imagineers' mouths...

Oh come on, that's like crediting Messier with all of the new franchises that Universal has created the past several years. The truth is that in many cases these are ideas that other imagineers have come up with, but Eisner came along and tinkered (in most cases destroyed) with them, as well as taking credit for them when the day was over.

Heading for the great escape.
Like any employee he should be judged on present performance, not what he did 4 or 5 years ago. If you are in any job and your performance drops you are moved along or given the big heev ho.
Being as hes been personally responsible for some of the more major errors his jacket should really be on a very shacky peg.

How many people trade on former glories, but out of that how many are buisness men?

Thanx chap but clear your desk.

I think most of the Disney legends should be given credit somewhere in every park. If not a statue, mabey on a window, or plaque, or something. A perfect place for this would be in the Studios. Not just because of what they did for the park, but because it would fit in here, being the park most close to the Disney business.

Even though Walt is dead, he is still given the credit for all the ideas and progress that happens at the parks - without him they wouldn't exist. Either that or the educational staff of the Disney Institute like lying on all the Backstage Magic tours.....

You can never give just one person credit for the things created at Disney. It is the combined effort of everyone involved in the projects.

I don't think you could possibly be any more pessimistic...either way, all things considered equal, Michael isn't leaving soon...
