MIB location

I was thinking, why wasn't MIB built in the NY area? If it and Fear Factor were gone, they could potentially have another land or MoM. MIB is my absolute fav and I'd love to see it put in it's proper land for a lengthy residence in the park.

Plus if they moved it, I'm sure it would receive some major upgrades, that would probably put it over TSMM.

Men in Black: Alien Attack had a very rushed development where it's opening date and location were decided first and content came latter. The World Expo storyline also tied it into the old Expo Center land which stretched from Back to the Future: The Ride back to Woody Woodpecker's Kid Zone.

There's nowhere to put another ride in NY. MIB was placed where it is because, at the time, they believed its theme was similar enough to BTTF. Obviously it's stuck in a sort of thematic no man's land now, but at least it's aligned with NY so that MIB is what you see when looking down the street from NY.

Plus if they moved it, I'm sure it would receive some major upgrades, that would probably put it over TSMM.

MIB would need quite a few downgrades for it to even be a competition. And that's probably what we'd get, because quite frankly I don't trust the current Universal with plussing a ride consisting mostly of practical effects.

couldn't they put it where one of the soundstages behind HRRR is? The ones they use for HHN? it would really add to the "NY" theme.

I couldn't for the life of me remember this!

I wouldn't say "never," but don't expect to see the soundstages used for park attractions (excepting HHN/Grinchmas.) So long as they make a profit off of their current uses, the status quo will remain in effect.

Plus an attraction the size of MIB would actually wipe out half the production lot. Those soundstages are comparatively small.

What about moving it to Marvel Superhero Island since it is technically a Marvel property?

I agree... I quite like TSMM but I think MIB is amazing... a fun use of practical effects that you don't see much of anymore and so much to look for so each ride seems different.. To me BLSRS is the odd man out.. and although when it was built I"m sure it was pretty awesome It just seems severely outclassed by the other two at this point... Besides being a people eater I wouldn't really miss it that much if it were converted into some other type of attraction.
