The Narnia attraction will be closed for 5 weeks (Closing October 1) due to construction being done on the old Millionaire building. For any of those who are curious, the entire building is gutted and work is being done in the area between the Narnia and Millionaire buildings. Apparently they have to dig 20 feet down into the ground to reach some electrical wires ... ?? (by the way I was born and raised in FL so don't attack me by saying blahblah Florida is only 6 feet above sea level!)...

Also, the CMs at MGM attended a meeting in the Feature Animation Building (I gotta say this is such a nice building! The room where the presentation was held was amazing) with the park VP and GM,etc. They showed us some new commercials and marketing videos focused on The Year of a Million Dreams. They showed art work for both Seas with Nemo and Nemo the Musical (the art work seemed like it would be using similar technology used in VOTLM 'Under the Sea' scene but that was just what I could tell from some small screenshots). One of my managers said that the Laugh Floor Comedy Club was gonna be awesome and hilarious by the way. They also announced that although nothing major was planned for MGM this upcoming year....that we should expect something very "big and exciting" in 2008-2009. Management hasn't exactly confirmed this Midway Mania deal by the way... not saying it isn't coming but it hasn't been confirmed by anyone or even considered.

That's pretty much all I've got.

Doubt it. Because of it happening in the millionaire building it will most likely be the start of Midway Mania.

Hopefully we will find out more soon.

Sorry to sound out of the loop...

But can someone refresh my memory ( and anyone else who may be reading) what "Midway Mania" is supposed to be?

I am remembering it's a Toy Story themed ride-thru that was rumoured to have some very neat interactive expereinces thanks to some neat technology?

Can anyone further explain?

Thanks for the update...i'm glad i caught Narnia before it's breif closure tomorrow.

Midway Mania is a new Omnimover style attraction theme to Toy Story which will spin much like Buzz Lightyear. The main differences about this new attraction and Buzz are:

  1. Buzz uses a laser to shoot the targets. MM uses a *new* patented technology (not really new, but not used enough to be old) where the guns shoot a light on a specific area of a set and the front of the set disappears to show something else. Someone else on this forum mentioned that the Firefighting exhibit in Innoventions uses the same light technology.
  2. Buzz relates solely to Buzz Lightyear. MM will be a modular attraction where each room/scene is dedicated to a different character from the Toy Story series (each scene would have you playing a character related midway game).
  3. As this attraction is made to be modular, the studio structure will be kept so that if the need ever comes, the studio can be restored to be used for its original purpose. This has been the plan for all attractions that fit into the studio structures (hence, the shows, modular attractions and easily removable fillers).

I'm just curious as to what kind of wiring is 20' underground and why Disney put it there to begin with.

Electrical utilities run underground pretty deep at the studios. 20 feet isnt that deep when it comes to infrastructure. Also note that the studios was built about 25 feet above sealevel. The areas around the park are draining areas of wetlands.

no, 20' is not really that deep... but you usually dont try to dig that kinda stuff up, you just abandon it... dont know why they are digging...
