MGM Hotter than the rest??

I've always assumed that AK was meant to feel that way - more of a natural feel, rather than air-conditioned comfort.

I'd say definitely Animal Kingdom. When I went in the summer it was soo humid and hot! But then again, that's only expected with all of the plants and trees!

I'm with the majority on this one. AK is noticably, painfully hotter. It's not helped by lukewarm shops which have no a/c to speak of and which means you never get out of the blazing heat and sun. MK has a million indoor/cool shops and rides so it's extremely easy to get out of the heat for awhile.

AK is a hot, humid, jungle of heat h-e-double-hockey sticks.

My feelings exactly. In fact, I think your choice of the word "painfully" is quite appropriate. As much as I enjoy spending time in AK, there isn't enough respite from the heat. Simply thinking about the overwhelming size of the place combined with intolerable Florida humidity makes me exhausted. Come to think of it, that side of WDW seems to be hotter altogether. I remember visiting the Animal Kingdom Lodge one hot June day, and just walking from the parking lot to the lobby was an extremely difficult journey, indeed. I didn't want to leave the air-conditioned rental car.

WDW temps

WDW is such a "hot" vacation destination, that any park you visit is "kool".

Especially if you wait to visit as I do late in the Fall.

I first visited the Magic Kingdom in 1980 in the middle of July. We loved it then, but I promised my family we'd never go again when it is so hot and crowded.

We now spend our annual trip to WDW beginning the Saturday following Thanksgiving and stay 7 nights.

There are hardly any crowds to speak of, the weather is great, and the rates are lower. Top that off with the parks dressed out in their holiday finest, and I don't think I could ever consider going any other time of year.

I've heard others mention the parks reduced operating hours, but you make up for it with short lines. Last year we spent no more than 15 minutes waiting on rides like Soarin', Test Track, Tower of Terror, Dinosaur, Space Mountain, and others.

With dining, you show up 5 minutes before your PS arrangements and 5 minute wait at most before you're seated.

The park can close at 7pm and you still see more at this time of year than on mid-summer days when the park is open until midnight and you're stiffling hot and waiting in 2 hour lines all day.

If you ever have the chance to go at this time of year, you'll love it.

Kids in school? I've got a fourth grader on honor roll, and I don't hesitate to pull her out for the week. We arrange with the teacher well in advance and she usually provides the lesson plans and work is completed before we get back at end of vacation.

Check out the "cool" Christmas holidays at WDW, you'll be glad you did.

DAK is definitely the hottest, but I noticed that I get thirsty faster in the Studios...

In the evening, World Showcase at Epcot is definitely one of the coldest areas of any park! With the way the wind whips around the lagoon, I've had to purchase a jacket simply because I was freezing.

I wonder what it would cost to cover one of the parks, say MGM, and air condition it .. haha. Anyone have the square footage for MGM? We could figure out the volume of air and see how many A/C units they would need.

Probably not too practical .. ;)
lol would be nice.....thats the way epcot was originally gonna be.

Yea AK is probley the hottest of them all but what park is the coldest during like the winter time. :D

^^ Epcot! Like I said, the area around World Showcase is FREEZING during winter! I like to sing in the Candlelight Processional, and I can't wait until the stage lights come up!

Ehhhh when I go (usually July/August) its equally hotter "than the face of the sun" in each park. LOL.

Tirian...my best friend goes every December, she said a few years ago she was riding Test Track (hoping for it to stop in the heat chamber) and when they cameout for the speed test it was raining. She said it was like stinging them in the face "it was so cold."

is it just me or is MGM the hottest park heat wise it seems like from all the asphalt and blacktop its the hottest park or is it just me and my family

I thought i was the only one who thought that! my group and i always just thought we picked the hottest day to do there... but i think there is something to that park actually being hotter. i will say that AK is a close second in hottest... but we only spend half a day at AK, so its not too bad usually.

Having just returned from our visit to WDW, I offer the the following opinions.AK is very hot for the already mentioned reasons. Plants, berm, ext queues etc.MGM feels very hot. Lots of pavement, not so much shade, ext queues.LMA stunt show is hottt if sun is bearing down on you.Epcot is hot on WS promenade, but inside pavillions and future world attractions, very nice.MK seems to have lots of AC in the queues.
