MGM Gone For Good?

I just got the Disney World vactioning video (just for fun) and when it did an overview of the Studios it said Disney Studios, and had no mention of anything MGM. So I guess MGM is gone for good!?

MGM is still there!

They've taken MGM off of several signs around the park but I believe the main entrance sign still has MGM. It will eventually be gone. i just got the video on CD

they are probably just "phasing" it out, bit by bit, slowly, so maybe even that people wont notice (i mean they have been doing it for a few years now!), but EVERYONE will notice when then take the MGM sign down!

I am sure i heard somewhere it was for 10, then they extended it , but no one knows for how long?

MGM had a contract with Disney till 1999 which was the 10th Anniversary but for some reason Disney renewed the contract. Nobody knows for how long, so it may be awhile before the name is gone.

Thats good to know.........but even if Disney renewed the contract Disney wants ppl to know the park as DISNEY MGM Studios......not just MGM like most ppl call it.

Then why do they not have the MGM name along with the Disney Studios when it is shown on the Walt Disney World promotional video? All that it says is Disney Studios with the MGM and the Leo the Lion omitted.

B/C they are gettin rid of the MGM........just slowly.

I have a vacation video from a few years back (the 25th anniv. celebration) and it only says "Disney Studios" on that as well. So this is obviously not a new thing with the vacation videos.

I dont know! Disney doesnt tell me these things!! I doubt they tell you either!

They haven't told me anything. I'm just saying that they haven't removed any signage yet and therefore isn't going to change the studio name just yet.

I believe that they want people who are watching the vacation videos to see that they can go to the "Disney Studios". But when they get there they will slip the MGM name in there.

When you think of it MGM is sort of the odd one out , it can't keep an icon for more that 5 years, the name is allways confusing., and they totaly lost their HOLLYWOOD glamor and glitz theme.
