Mexico & France: New BGM

So, objectively I don't think it's that bad. Sort of a musical hidden Mickey. If this was how they were choosing to insert characters, I think it would be a nice nod.

But, with all of the forced IP, I find myself really bristling at it and not wanting to be around the Pavilion. Sad that the new changes are causing me to really dislike my once favorite park. (Personal opinion, of course.)

So the bookends are Be Our Guest and La Vie en Rose. Anyone know what's in between them?

Whew! I'm so glad they kept "La Vie En Rose". Remember that from Wall-E?

Now, they'd better not get rid of A. Belk's (I think that's his name) "On the Shore" (or you might remember it as- "Play the Sunset" from Mr. Holland's Opus) in United Kingdom.

you mean you don't want to hear more of Let it Go and Into the Unknown? ;)
I ADORE Frozen and I've learned to Let Maelstrom Go and adore the ride as well! But there's something so stirring about the nordic music there, the hardanger fiddle tunes, the cobblestone... I don't even feel like I'm in Disney while I'm in that pavilion, and I guess that's why it's special to me.

Holà & Bonjour from Epcot! While walking around world showcase today we have noticed that France and Mexico are playing new background music. So far we have heard instrumental versions of Remember me and Be Our Guest mixed in with classic music. En route to other countries to see if anymore changed.
Some really nice cha-cha music there, next time the wife and I will have to dance!

I was in France yesterday and still heard some of the original loop, so I think they are playing a blending of the new and old?
Im okay with a blending, but I hope they dont replace all the loops entirely. Would be kind of nice if the newer could play in the new area back by ratatouille, and the original in the front. But they have to turn everything into another MK now so....but will see what happens to the rest.

There are/were two exterior loops- one is/was an hour long loop outside Chefs de France and another was 45 minutes long playing more generally in the exterior. It's unclear which one has been replaced. (Credit to wedroy1923 and the fantastic WDW Resort Music compendium, here and here)

Remember everyone, the Disney brand is only defined by a limited number of strictly film-centered IPs. It has nothing to do with more nebulous concepts like theming, service, or quality and certainly isn’t involved with anything as convoluted as an optimistic vision of a future driven by international understanding and cooperation.

For better or worse, World Showcase was built to invoke and perpetuate the spirit that drove the worlds fairs and even the UN. Now it’s meant to invoke that recent movie you kind of liked.

Disney has worked very hard during the Iger era to make their brand wider by acquiring new IPs while at the same time making that brand more and more shallow by limiting it to a small number of images, characters, and sounds with no thematic or ideological meaning. It’s a stiflingly narrow vision, and one guaranteed to limit the brand’s viability in the long one. Disney is beginning to demonstrate the substance and durability of an Elsa sticker peeling off a lamppost.

But the new music is kind of nice.

I expected the worst when I saw this, but it's actually not bad at all. I like that they kept the tunes in line with the traditional folk instrumentation of the countries. The melodies are there, but they flow into the other music pretty seamlessly.

I feared that the actual soundtracks from these movies would be playing.

Blog Mickey's reporting that "Human Again" from BatB is also in the loop...

The UnCiteable Site says there's also music from The Aristocats and Ratatouille in France; Reflection from Mulan in China

China has Mulan tracks: “I’ll Make a Man Out of You”, “Honor to Us All”, and “Girl Worth Fighting For”.

Mexico's BGM includes: “Remember Me”, “Proud Corazón”, and “The World Es Mi Familia”
