Met the Mayor in Magic Kingdom, whats he do anyway?

Just got back from Disney World !! While we were there.. one day at Magic Kingdom we were walking out of the main street bakery and saw the mayor walking down main street by himself. Nobody seemed to be talking to him or anything.. so we went up and got our picture taken with him :sohappy: :sohappy: ( picture is at http://homepage.mac.com/ssidiouss/.Pictures/disney 2006/IM002847.JPG )

Anyway, what's he do in the park? I never seen him before? He was sort of just strolling down the street with a big smile on his face lol so we went up to him but a lot of people didn't know who he was.

he's just a Cast Member playing a charactor, like Cinderella or Aladdin...just not as popular, lol. He basically is there to emphasize the theming of Main Street

I think its great they have a character like that... he fits on main street perfectly. So he just strolls around.. checking in stores, etc? Hahah.. thats funny. :sohappy:

Our group talked with him on the Keys to The Kingdom Tour for about 5 minutes. I think the it was just one cm knowing another cm and having fun. I've read of other characters on Steve Soares site and it's fun to try and catch some of the characters sometimes. Finding something new at WDW is always refreshing after so many trips.

He is a great guy. I met him at the superbowl champions parade in february. He was there with his wife and we just happened to sit beside him. He was not working that day and he mentioned to us that he was the Mayor of Main Street. He said that there is only one mayor. He was talking to my husband about football, he is a huge Miami Dolphins fan I guess. Him and his wife were really friendly. There was a family that came up late to the parade and had missed the football mickey mouse ears that they gave out, so his wife gave the child hers to take home.

I don't think he picks for the parade, but I could be wrong. When we were asked...it was a CM who was not involved in Streetertainment. He may be part of the group in front in the morning.....

Don't forget the Fire Chief... He is just like the Mayor and just at interesting.
