Has anyone ever stayed at or heard anything about the Meridian Maingate located on US 192 in Kissimmee? I think it was The Sleep Inn at one time. Just curious if it is a decent place.

Decent!

It was a Sleep Inn many years ago, was renamed Meridian Hotel Orlando, and I believe now is called Galleria!

My wife and son stayed here last October, and we were pleasantly surprised. We knew we were getting a no-frills place, but it was a last-minute, short, trip so we were ok with that (we typically stay onsite, values and/or moderates).

It's a good location -- just a block or so from the 192/429 interchange, and the drive to Disney property is short enough.

Staff was nice and there weren't many folks when we were there, so that was a plus.

The rooms, well, they are small, there's no denying that. They make very efficient use of space. There's a flat panel TV on the wall, and they use 2 shelf/hanger units for clothes -- just as much space as you'd normally get, though. The walking space in the room is very minimal, but the 3 of us got around just fine -- we hardly spend any time in-room, so we were ok.

The bathroom, small but manageable.

Breakfast is actually pretty darn tasty. Just the usual suspects (waffles, muffins, drinks, etc.) and a small dining room that fills up fast.

Overall, as I said, we thought we got our money's worth. Here are some links for ya:

Hope that helps!

Thanks a lot...it does help. It was a last minute thing for just my wife and I (no kids). We don't need a lot of space and for only $41 a night, sounds like a steal. Thanks for the info. We'll be sure to let you know how it was.

Oh Meyla Weyla
I just stayed there less than a month ago. It was very clean, very nice furniture and tv as mentioned. The breakfast selection was very good, we were there very early so we almost had the room to ourselves. Rooms are small, but the beds and pillows were really comfy :)

It says free internet, but the only way to get a wireless connection to your laptop in your room is to go to the front desk and sign out one of the "kits". They make you sign your life away if you fail to return it  It's just a box to plug into and the cords that are needed.

For some reason I was charged for one extra night though, I had two rooms for one night so I should have been charged twice total, but I was charged three times. I had to call several times trying to get ahold of a manager with no success, but I finally was lucky enough to get a man by the name of Hatem at the front desk. He provides some of the best customer service I've ever had anywhere! He's that good. Anyway, he asked me if I would be willing to give it a few days to see if it was simply a bank hold on the money, so I did. After a week the money had not been returned to my account so I called and thankfully Hatem answered again. He immediately reversed the charge to my account and the next business day my money had been refunded.

So there's my long-winded story. Bottom line is this is a nice place for the money
