I think the anthropomorphic tree was decorated as such for the Flower and Garden Festival. I noticed it there during the first week of June.

Several things; Wonder why they have so much going on at Epcot{wall-wise} when it is in the middle of the 50th anniversary? Kind of stinks for folks that haven't been down in a while, came down for the 50th celebration, expecting to have a good time, and instead they are faced with the great wall of Epcot! Also, is it possible they want the place to look better for the Food and Wine Festival? And having said that, why would the Food and Wine Festival be more important then the 50th anniversary?
Lastly, and I hope this is the real reason, maybe Bob Iger is trying to rectify all "what Ei$ner hath wrought".

"Grand Gatherings" package events are held in this building, The Odyssey.

I believe you are refering to the former Odyssey restaurant. It was last open as a counter service restaurant, as I recall, back in 1995 or 1996. The last time it was in the Birnbaum guide was 1995. It was a great place, because it did not look like a counter service eatery, as the food service counters were tucked away from the main dining area, which was spread over several levels. They use it for special events now, especially during the Food and Wine Festival, as well as for corporate shindigs. We really miss it, because it was never really all that crowded, which probably led to it's demise as a counter service restaurant. I think it was just too "out of the way" of most of the traffic headed from FW to WS.

Hey Merf, is that a new scale model of a new stave church? I personally take around 15 minutes at Stave church. My norwegian heritage compels me to listen to the background music and read over the bits of history in the church. It's hard to get quiet time in there. I was in there one night after RoE and someone was coming in to close it for the night. I started for the door to leave and he smiled and said to take my time. It was nice to have it quiet and to myself.

Hey Badger, I know what you mean. We often go into the overlooked{for the most part} Stave church for some great quiet time. Why people carry on though, in there sometime {screaming, cussing, etc., no couth} is beyond us. A little respect, huh folks?

If people thought about what the stave church represents to Norway, they would be a little more courteous. I've had some great quiet moments in the church, but way too many times I had to leave. Oh well, hit and miss I guess. :animwink:

That tree was deocrated for the Flower & Garden Festival. They probably just decided to leave it there for the heck of it.

Some of those walls are likely in preparation of the Food and Wine Festival. Some are probably for routine refurbishment or rehab. If you find that something is going to need to be fixed up a bit, are you going to fix it as soon as you can, or wait until an 18 month celebration is over? If you fix it sooner, then you may get a few guest complaints about how things look while you fix it, but isn't that better than getting 18 months of complaints about how bad something looks when you could have already done something about it? Also, it's not that the Food and Wine Festival is more important than the 50th Celebration, but it is an event held every year. Just because it's the 50th, doesn't mean that they aren't going to decorate for the Food and Wine Festival. Most likely, they will do something similar to what they did for the F&G Festival and decorate in some special way for the 50th as well. Remember, there were 50 hidden Mickeys for the F&G Festival. :D
