memory maker

Does anyone know if I can buy the memory maker \ photo pass after our trip? I did not but it before our vacation and now looking at the pictures I regret that decision. I just don't want to pay $199.00 for something that would be for a future trip instead of the photos that were just taken. Thank you.

Yes, you can.

First of all, you can purchase Memory Maker at any time (including after your trip), but to take advantage of the pre-purchase price (which saves you $30), you'll need to buy it at least 3 days before your trip using the pre-purchase link. The pre-purchase price is $169 and the full price is $199.

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
No you cannot purchase it after the fact. If you buy it it would be for a future trip. You unfortunately will have to buy each picture you want individually. :)

Originally you couldn't buy after the fact(and buying during would almost be pointless as it took three days to kick in). My wife read an article that you can now purchase after the fact, for the full price of $199.

There are two prices for Memory Maker. The $169 pre-purchase, and the $199 regular purchase. Either can be bought at any time. However, the $169 version only includes pictures taken 3 days after purchase (or later), so if you bought that item it would only work on your next trip. The $199 version covers all pictures in your account at the time of purchase, even ones that have already been taken, so you can buy this now and download copies of all the pictures in your account.

The 3 day limit was put in place as you used to be able to "pre" order the Photopass Archive CD (copy of all pictures on disc) at any point, as long as you bought it before you used it, and all the pictures were included. So guests were returning home from their trip, deciding they liked the pictures, "pre" buying the CD, and then using the CD credit to get all their pictures. The 3 day timer eliminates that loophole.

Can you still connect photopass cards to the memory maker after your trip? We have a large group going and will be split up at times but want to be able to get all the pictures we can on the memory maker. I know with the old photopass you could combine all your cards and download them. I have read some conflicting info online with the new system and haven't used it yet so thought i would ask.

You should still be able to, yes. In addition, if these other groups members are in the "Family and Friends" area of MDE, then their pictures should automatically show up in your account and you can then edit/download them using your Memory Maker.

Excellent. They are in my MDE. does that mean we can all use one dream maker and just add any extra photopasses in? I promise to look again myself. Not sure why i can't find a clear explaination that satisfies my alleged mind. Old age?

Found this explanation of things. seems like you can add friends so their bands will automagically be added to the memory maker account and you can add photopasses in as well. CRISIS AVERTED...I think

Memory Maker

Disney’s Memory Maker provides guests with digital copies of every photo linked to their My Disney Experience account. The photos are available to download online. Guests using Memory Maker will receive access to photos taken throughout the parks by PhotoPass photographers, ride photos, and photos taken at dinner shows or character meals. Guests can use their MagicBand, park ticket, an RFID-enabled Memory Maker card, or the regular PhotoPass cards to add photos to the account. Note that you are not required to stay at a Disney resort or have MagicBands to use Memory Maker. There are, however, some features of Memory Maker that can only be unlocked with MagicBands (more below).

The Memory Maker entitlement can only be linked to one individual’s My Disney Experience account. The entitlement holder can be changed to someone else only before any photos have been downloaded. This person is the only one that can download the photos, but once the photos have been downloaded they are easily shared with other members of your group. If the other guests in your group are linked as members of the Memory Maker holder’s party, they can also take part in Memory Maker by using their MagicBands or tickets. Guests in a separate My Disney Experience account can be added to the entitlement holder’s account as friends, and can thus add and share photos for the entitlement holder’s Memory Maker. For guests that are using MagicBands, the bands are now using long-range technology for ride photos to automatically associate the guest’s photos with their account. Photos should be available within an hour of being taken. This is ONLY available for guests with MagicBands, not with RFID-enabled plastic cards. To be on the safe side, guests may want to write down/take a photo of their photo’s number when exiting the ride. For guests using RFID-enabled card tickets, the entitlement holder must visit the ride’s photo center with the photo number within 24 hours of the photo being taken in order to link it to the account.

I reckon things change fast. January it was the way I described. When did it change? I think that even having to pay $200 is small once people realize what they have missed.

I'm honestly not sure. My wife and I were opining about Disney, and we both have different Disney and related feeds in our Facebook, and I think she saw it on one of the blogs we follow. It wasn't very long ago she mentioned it to me, maybe a month or two.

Wow, that is fast. Must have had a lot of complaint and suggestions.

Yes, that is correct. They will all show up via linked family and friends, or you can add extra photopass cards to your account as needed as well. The photopass cards will need to continue to work for the near future as not everyone has Magic Bands, and for things like Jedi Academy and Storytime with Belle as they give you the pictures from those via card.
