Memory Maker

We just added Memory Maker to our package for our upcoming trip. Does anyone know what ride photos are included? For example we saw one site that didn't show TT was included but we saw another site that showed it was. It would be helpful to know before we go.

Also, we know you can have them take pictures at the main icons, and at character M&Gs. Are there any other places? We won't be doing any character meals, but we will probably do at least a few M&Gs with our 7 year old DD.

We are also wondering what "magic shots" are available and where you can get those.

One other thing, we know that you can edit photos, add borders, etc. on the site. If you do edit the photos, does that take the place of the original photos, or can you download the originals and the edited photos?

Any help, tips, or advice would be appreciated. This will be our second trip, but first time using MM.

Thanks!

From what I've read they have photo people set up in the "magic shot" areas (ie Cinderella's castle) and in other places as well. I'm hoping they are included in the character breakfast as we are going to one. It also includes all pictures from rides (that offer them). That's all I got from it. We just purchased it tonight since I want to be in the pictures and not just my husband and son. I'm sure someone else can give us more insight :)

I don't have any answers, but did want to add a question:

With the old photopass you got a CD with all the edited photos. Is it now just download? Has anybody had problems with that? Is it still possible to get a CD with all the images? We have, several years ago, ended up with 10+ CDs after all the edits. That would be a lot of downloading time.

Space, Splash, Buzz, TT, RnRC, ToT, Dinosaur, EE are all included.

Also, we know you can have them take pictures at the main icons, and at character M&Gs. Are there any other places? We won't be doing any character meals, but we will probably do at least a few M&Gs with our 7 year old DD.

Those are the only consistent locations. Pretty much down the main drag in front of the icon, sometimes on side streets/alcoves with differing views. But keep your eyes open. MK - Usually scattered around the hub, sometimes over by PoTC (pretty rare now). AK - By the Tree of Life, EE, pathway from Africa to Asia, but I've also seen them on the trails and other random places. DHS - Hollywood Blvd, Sunset Blvd, Stars Wars speeder bike Epcot - Both sides of Spaceship Earth, randomly around World Showcase (usually in France either by fountain or bride between UK & France at dusk). But lots of Photopass photographers assigned to M&G will show up before/hang out after their characters arrive. I've gotten pics in Morocco, Germany, Italy, China, France, PoTC, MK stocks etc etc simply because they were in between character sets.

We are also wondering what "magic shots" are available and where you can get those.

Rule of thumb - if a photographer has a tripod, they cannot do magic shots. (Exception are the hitchhiking ghosts at MNSSHP) Just ask if the photographer can do them. Some can, some cannot.

One other thing, we know that you can edit photos, add borders, etc. on the site. If you do edit the photos, does that take the place of the original photos, or can you download the originals and the edited photos?

As long as you click "Save A Copy" you get a new image that reflects the edits.

With the old photopass you got a CD with all the edited photos. Is it now just download? Has anybody had problems with that? Is it still possible to get a CD with all the images? We have, several years ago, ended up with 10+ CDs after all the edits. That would be a lot of downloading time.

If you buy Memory Maker, it is download only. If you want a CD you would need to have bought the Photopass Archive CD, which doesn't include ride or dining photos, but does include a physical disc of the photos.

Not sure if anything in this thread will help, but here's a link to a thread I started about MM a few days ago; maybe some of that information will lead you to some of your answers (figured it was worth a try... my brain is mush right now so that's as far as I could get lol)

Lots and lots of questions about Memory Maker. I had questions about MM early last week and got some good advice on tracking photo's, ride photo's.

An additional CD beyond download was $25 charge.

I'm a bit confused and have been trying to read all of the threads on Memory Maker. Is the old "PhotoPass" option gone now that MM exists? An example being, if I wanted my photo taken in front of the castle, and I don't give the CM my camera, do I need MM to access the photos? If this is a total PhotoPass replacement then it seems the price is worth it.

One more question - Does everyone in my party need MM added to their Magicband and park ticket purchase? (Would my children need it since they are always with an adult??) Thanks!!!

(and thanks to all who posted some helpful links of other threads in this one!)

Just returned from our 6/7-6/15 vacation. I bought memory maker early to get the discount. All of the ride photos were included and were automatically added. You no longer have to go to the counter to add the ride photos.
When getting a photo, ask the photographer if they have a "magic shot". There are numerous ones in all the parks.
You have 30 days to put all the borders, add ins and then download. Just make a copy before you start the add ons. CD is an additional charge.
Add the memory maker to everyone's band. There isn't a charge. The person who purchased the memory maker will be the only user id that can download. Put it on your children's band, they'll want to have their band scanned. It seems to be a big deal to have your band scanned as a child.

Memory Maker is the current equivalent product to PhotoPass+. PhotoPass has always just been the name for their photography service, people often used it interchangeably with the PhotoPass CD, which often led to confusion. You still have the ability to purchase the PhotoPass Personal Archive CD. This includes a copy of all of the pictures that are active in your PhotoPass account when you order the CD. It won't include ride or dining pictures unless you purchase those separately. Or you can purchase Memory Maker which will include a digital download copy of all your pictures, including ride and dining photos.

If you have all the members of your party linked to your MDE account through family & friends, then their MBs should automatically deposit all the pictures into your account as well.

I do not believe that this is the case, my wife was linked on our last trip, and we had to call to get them to put the pictures she got taken on to the account. I believe only the main person will get the pictures added to the account, but everyone that you link to the account has access to see them. To be safe, I suggest that anyone that goes off on their own and gets pics taken gets a photopass card when they do, that way, you can just claim the pictures on your MDE/Memory Maker account.

So if you get the Memory Maker and you get the ride pictures, do you still need to get in line to "buy" the picture or is it automatically downloaded to your account?

Quoting from the PhotoPass website here,
Q.
Does my Memory Maker purchase allow me to download photos linked to my family and friends?

A.
Yes. If other people are connected to your Family & Friends list and choose to share their photos taken during your Memory Maker window, you have the ability to download those photos.
...
To view and download your friend and family members’ photos, please ask them to sign in to their Disney account and set photo sharing permissions using the Family & Friends page in their Profile. On their Family & Friends list, they can locate the Guest they want to share photos with and select “Edit” to access the photo sharing control.

While using a separate PhotoPass card is fine, it won't work for claiming ride or dining photos.
