Memory Maker Question

So I have two different reservations (two different confirmation numbers) under my Disney account. One is for my in-laws and the other for wife and I. We plan to get the memory maker for ourselves. Would there be any reason that my in-laws would also need memory maker?

I believe the magic bands are tied to confirmation numbers, not necessarily Disney accounts. So if my in-laws scan a picture after a ride, I don't believe that photo will show up under MY memory maker since their reservation wouldn't have MM and only mine would.

Does that mean after each ride I can scan two different photo's/screens? One of us and the other of my in-laws so both can be in my MM?

No.

Incorrect. Each MagicBand is tied to a person.

Each of your family members should have their own MyDisneyExperience account. Then everyone should add everyone else as a Friends & Family member. Then everyone will get to share the MemoryMaker that you purchased.

What if they don't have a Disney account, but they are just listed under my friends and family list as 'guests'?

They should create one, and you should go into your Friends and Family and click "Update," then "Share Planning," then add the email address that they used to create their account. This will merge the managed-by-you version of them with their own accounts.

That should be OK.

Only you will be able to download the photos, but they should all show up no matter who is in them.
In theory that's true. But the second one of the other people wants to do something on their own (book a dining reservation, do a mobile order, buy Genie+, open the hotel room with their phone), the system is going to get all jacked up and confused.

If they don’t have their own account then to do any of those things in MDE they will have to log in as @Schweino. I would suggest a magic band or key to the world card for the door.

I agree that at least one of them should have their own account but plenty of people do it this way.

I tried to involve them in plans, but they specifically and vehemently said "Do not involve us. I don't want to do any of it. You do it all and we will be just fine". I was like dude...theres SO MANY RESTAURANTS. They def aint going to be getting Genie+ though and neither will we. The only day I can see us even wanting Genie is Epcot day and thats if we dont get into a queue for Guardians.

Anywho thanks yall!

Just to be clear, because this confuses a lot of people... Even if they have their own accounts, so long as they're linked to you in Friends & Family, you can continue to do all of the planning on behalf of the whole group.

Why would you need G+ if you don’t get a VQ spot for Guardians? The only other option at the moment is an ILL and you don’t need G+ for those. You would however need to book for everyone.

In 2012 I went to Disney with the Pop Warner football team. I had Memory Maker. Was able to link 4 other families into my Memory maker. When I came home I made DVD's for the others.
