I am a bit confused by the whole memory maker thing, does it mean all the photos that are taken of you on rides or by photopass are forever on your account unlike when you used to have 30 days to print them off or they are deleted forever?

Memory Maker is basicaly the new PhotoPass+ If you buy Memory Maker you are entitled to a digital download of any picture in your account, and you are entitled to digital copies of ride and dining photos. The pictures are valid in your account 45 days from being taken, and you can download them for 30 days after the first download. You don't get a CD/DVD copy of the pictures, nor do you get the stock photo CD. If you want a physical CD/DVD you can still purchase one from PhotoPass, but you would need to buy the ride/dining photos separately. Or you could burn your own from the download.

While MM the new PP+ it does not work as well as the PP+, at least for us it didn't. We lost many, 20ish, photos before an hour long sitdown with the a MM CM who told us we not only needed to use our band but a regular plastic card for the photo op to ensure we got all our pictures. It boils down to we paid $140 to test out the new system that isn't working yet. Once we started using both we no longer lost any as one or the other picked up the picture. We logged 175+ pictures in 6 days between the parks and resorts.

So no one in your group was able to just use their MB for the pictures? Was this recently?

During our recent trip, we had only a few problems with using the MBs for PhotoPass. Twice it failed to read the band and they gave us a card. The biggest problem was due to the fact their onsite system still had all the photos from our last trip.
Using them for MemoryMaker is no different as that just tells the system to give you the ride/dining and then the free download. Unless you had problems with claiming the ride/dining pics the MBs are working fairly well now.

Only one band would work and, again, it was finicky when it came to some of the attraction photos. Our trip was the week of Christmas .

On a positive note, we recently just finished adding our custom touches, borders and such, and downloaded around 500 high resolution pictures without issue. Very happy there.
