Memorable Guest Encounters

Has anyone had a memorable encounter (good, bad, funny, weird) with another guest at WDW? Mine was from my trip back in September. I covered it briefly in my trip report. Anyway:

One evening, my brother and I were going to head off to EPCOT to meet our folks for our dinner reservation. When we left our room, we opened the door and found a whole bunch of people sitting outside - in the area between our room and the room next door. It appeared to be a lady and what I assume were her kids. One of the kids was sitting against our door and thus fell backwards when we opened our door. We looked upon this scene in confusion and surprise, since we didn't expect to find anyone out here, nor did we hear anyone whilst we were getting ready. We greeted them with a friendly smile, and one of the kids remarked on how our room was nice and cool (due to the AC). The lady however, looked up at us and simply said "there was something terribly wrong with our room". We responded with an "OK", and then headed off to the bus stop to get the bus to EPCOT. They weren't there when we returned.

I'd definitely like to know what happened!

During our last visit, we were standing in the epically long line for Tomorrowland Speedway. It was late March, late in the afternoon, super hot and sunny. A teenage girl in line right in front of us started spewing all Linda Blair-like and collapsed. Oh horrors. She was heat stroking a bit I think. I've never seen CMs come to the rescue so fast with water bottles, fanning her, steering people in line away from the vomit, etc. Anyway, the poor girl got medical attention quickly. But it was so gross and my son (5 at the time) still talks about it constantly.

"Hey mommy, member when that girl threw up at dinney wurl? Yucky!"

Last year I was in the MK's central hub preparing to watch the fireworks show (Wishes?). A guy came up beside me and started snapping pictures, with his camera about 6 inches from my right ear. After a few seconds I told him that he needed to move somewhere else. He complied - by moving right in front of me! I'm not a rude person by nature, but I'd had enough of this guy. I took him by the arm, moved him to the side, and said "You need to go somewhere else!"

My wife and I were lining up to get on ToT when a boy about 10 who had already lined up with his parents started screaming and jumping around the whole area where you line up. He was mad because he wanted to ride without his parents. He had a thick British accent so it was hard for me to understand. We were in the line right next to them. We gave the father a look like "do something" and he just turned around and ignored him. The mother said a few things to him but resulted in him reaching up and squeezing her (I kid you not). Finally he got on the little mark where you are supposed to stand but ran his mouth the whole time. We wanted so bad to say something to him but held our tongues. He finally shut up as the elevator starting going up.

At my bachelorette party, we were just walking into the splash mountain gift shop, and we wanted to all get pressed pennies. We went over to the machine and a little boy (maybe 10) was trying to put money into the machine, after a moment of him looking really confused, I asked if he had a penny (he had been putting two quarters in but no penny), and in the sweetest British accent he said "What's a penny?". It was so cute! We showed him what a penny is, and gave him a few of them. We all still laugh at how cute it was!

Sorry about that. But my photo's did come out well!

When I went with a few friends, including comedian Mario Cantone in, I think, 2001, we encountered Julie Andrews in the Rainforest Cafe at Animal Kingdom. She sat down a few tables away from us with a fairly hefty entourage. Mario used his celebrity status to go over and say hi. They talked for quite a while. In the meantime, a waiter spilled a tray of bloody marys on me......but that's another story.

I'll share a Good and Bad....

Bad: My wife was pregnant with our first child and we were at Epcot at the time. We had reservations at the French restaurant (can't remember the name). My wife started blacking out due to the heat, we realized that she ran out of water. So she asked the hostess at the restaurant if she could have a cup of water. The hostess looked at my wife and said NO. Which shocked my family since we have been going there since I was born and even before that, and have never experienced a cast member deny water, especially to a pregnant woman.

Good: I had the chances to march in the Star Wars Weekends parades with the 501st as a Stormtrooper. Nothing was more amazing than seeing all the kids stare in amazement at the amount of Star Wars characters. Plus it was nice meeting some of the cast members and comparing our Stormtrooper armor to theirs.

We were at WDW during the MK's 40th anniversary. We weren't going to spend the day there thinking it would be mobbed beyond belief. We decided around 4pm to go. We knew FastPasses would be crazy and lines would be insane. We figured we could hop on what we could and at least enjoy the experience of being there. As we were walking on the path from BLT to the MK, a man handed us 4 FastPasses to Peter and wished us a magical evening. We were so shocked and thrilled! We have done that so many times for other families over the years. We never had anyone do it to us. It was so kind - and for such a busy attraction on such an important day there - just so magical!
So - if you are reading this and it was you - I know we said it over and over that evening - Thank You!!!

This is the only thing I don't like about FastPass+. When we used to have extra FastPasses we would find a family that had kids that weren't acting like total beasts and give them away. I loved making someones day more magical. They need to make a FastPass transfer option on the app!

I agree. We miss it, too.

This happened to us as well at All-Star Music. Turns out that these people were choosing our door and "stoop" to smoke in front of. We saw them later exiting a room not near ours, so it seems that they were trying to smoke away from their room so as not to get caught. After a couple of times seeing them, my gf and I finally told them something and they went away. But it still shocks me that they would stand so close to our door. I would never do that to anyone else, which I feel is an "invasion" of personal space being that all that separates them from our belongings is a door.

A few years ago, we were sitting in the second to last row on the train. There was a family behind us in the last row. The little boy, around 4 years old, projectile vomited all over the back of our seat, and partly onto our backs & hair. The parents said nothing, and didn't seem shocked or concerned - they shrugged, and said "he's fine." We exited at the next stop, and ended up going back to our room to change. It seriously grossed me out.

I remember when I first seen Fantasmic at WDW back in 2006 for the first time. I remember seeing these two kind and happy couple who I remember to be middle aged. We had a short talk before and after the show. They were one of the happiest guests I've ever seen and even talked about the show after it's finished.
