Meeting Characters - Disney's Hollywood Studios

If you want to meet characters - a great place to look is in the Animation building in Disney's Hollywood Studios on days when Fantasmic is playing. Because the characters are all in the park for the shows in the evening anyway, they like to spend their day in the air-conditioning in the Animation building. On a regular basis you can meet with Sorcerer Mickey in that area - but on Fantasmic days - you never know who you will run into! It's not as well known, so if you time it right, you can meet lots of characters and really spend quality time taking pictures with them and joking around! It's magical!

The Animation days are great to visit characters on ANY day. It's one of my favorite spots to see characters. I didn't know Fantasmic days have more characters but there are often always a bunch there throughout the day. Check a times guide or ask a CM for the hours.

You can also go through the store part and get to the charactors without going through the line to learn to draw animation pre-show. We saw Winie the Pooh, Mickey, Chip & Dale & Incredibles there lately

Here is the schedule for Character Palooza in the Animation Building

Fantasmic begins before 7:30 no Character Palooza
First Fantasmic begins at 7:30 there will be one 20 min set at 4:45
First Fantasmic begins at 8:00 there will be three 20 min sets beginning at 4:50
First Fantasmic begins at 8:30 there will betwo 30 min sets beginning at 4:50
First Fantasmic begins at 9:00 there will be four 25 min sets beginning at 4:50(two groups with two sets)
No Fantasmic there will be four 30 min set starting at 4:50

These are unannounced and CM's will not tell you they are occuring

My family walked in once to get a photo with Sorcerer Mickey and we were blown away with all of the characters we saw: Lotso, the Incredibles, Captain Hook and Mr. Smee, Aladdin and Jasmine, Pocahontas and Meeko, Mary Poppins and a penguin, Green Army Man, 2 Little Einsteins, Handy Manny, and Sorcerer Mickey. We were unable to take photos with all. We tried. We walked in again 2 days later and it was nothing like this; only a few characters were present. Not sure why it happened but it was awesome!!!

Another place in DHS to see the characters is at park opening -- they deliberately line up random characters in the main plaza to distract young'uns from the running of the bulls to Toy Story Mania...if you have no interest in TSMM or running to TT or RNR, this is a great time to hang with them in the plaza and take photos...
