I have been a merchandising cast member, and basically after your one day of Traditions, they scheduled me for a saturday class all day that taught us all about the merchandise at Disney. Then the next week I was scheduled to have a tour of the park I worked at, to familiarize myself with it, I worked at MGM. They also schedule you with trainers wherever your working and you get this little ribbon to put on your nametag that says Earning my ears. I loved it! Hope that helps. If you have any other questions you can email me at theatrebuff1@yahoo.com

Many classes are (unfortunately) online now. For just a standard merchandise role, you'll go through Traditions, Merchantainment and your area-specific orientation. Depending on your role, you may also have to be food-trained. You'll also take online classes in safety, disability awareness and several other things. Merchandise is a fun role, and I really enjoy it (though where I'm working is MUCH different from what I'm used to).

I am working at Disney World right now and I work in merchandise at Epcot. I did traditions(that is when you get your Id and name tag. Then i had merchantainment and all thats about is learning to work the registers and all. It is mostly on the computer. Then you will have discovery day of what ever park or resort they put you in. Will you be in the career start or college program?

yeah and after merchantainment you train with you advisor for two days and then you are left on your own. You get to learn how to count back money the Disney way and everything. And if you are lucky you will get to work in a big store like world of disney, the emporium, or mouse gear(which is where I work)!
