Trip Report Me, Mickey and Medicare!!

Welp, the time has come. You know how the decades are the big birthdays? There is one I have found that seems important to celebrate at the half decade. Yep, 65! I decided if I was going to have to start carrying around a Medicare card that I was going to have a go big or go home party. And I did in one of my favorite places ever, Disney!
As one family member rudely said when I told them of my plans, see my jaw not on the floor.

Whatever. With fairly short notice, maybe a month or less I decided that I was going to go visit Seth. I moved to Sacramento this year and to say it was stressful is the understatement of the century. My daughter and family were going to Texas for Thanksgiving and with my birthday only a few days before I decided to treat myself. I asked Seth if he minded hanging out with me if he could get off of work and he said sure and was able to get the days.

So, the particulars were-dates, Nov. 20-Nov. 25.
For the first time ever I stayed off site at the Tuscany Hilton as I am saving our DVC points to use in March because the whole family will be going again and staying at the new Poly Towers. (And that takes a whole bunch of points.)
It was just Seth and me.
When I was trying to think of a name for this TR I asked Seth his opinion and he said he didn't mind if only I was in the title as long as he was in the report!😁

I was going to start the report with travel day but it seems all of the pictures that I thought I downloaded have disappeared!
So I will have to use the only photo I can find for this first post, a fairly blurry photopass pic, to start the report off and I will be back as soon as I find the gazillion lost pics!

Ty, it was wonderful!
I am so thrilled you were able to find the Halloween decor, and will be able to (hopefully) recreate the one that you and Gary had. And I'm loving the smiles on both or your faces during this trip report - sooo nice to see! Keep it coming :joyfull:
It was exciting finding the wreath and yes it's good to have a reason to smile. :)

NOV-22 EPCOT DAY!

We started out our day in a similar time frame, getting to the park a little after 9. Seth picked me up maybe 8:45ish. (Love the curb service!)

We were standing in front of this beauty at 9:15.
IMG_6534.jpg

We had a LL for Remy and were able to take our time walking over and got to enjoy some of the sights.
IMG_6536.jpg

I took this for @riverside so she could see how strange it was to see the area around Rose & Crown so empty of humans.
IMG_6537.jpg

I love this whole setting! It looked so pretty with the sun behind it.
IMG_6539.jpg

The house of rat wasn't too busy, but busy enough to justify the use of a LL.
IMG_6540.jpg

After that we had a LL for Soarin, but there was time to book and use another LL for The Land before that.
I have a ton of photos of the land because with all of our trips I don't remember seeing it decked out in it's Christmas decorations. The photos are from both Seth and I because we did a right side/left side of the boat photo shoot!

After we exited the boat there was a small cart set up where they were selling little mini plants in containers that you could safely take home. I got my son in law one because he is an avid gardener and the dragon fruit we got him will supposedly live here in Sac. with some care.

After this, we're off to save the galaxy!

EPCOT DAY CONTINUES!

After riding both Soarin and Land one after the other we headed over to Guardians.
I just realized that our ride photo didn't show up. :(
They are getting really annoying with that. Usually I am ambitious enough to call photopass and they have always been able to retrieve it, but I'm too lazy today.

What I do have is a pic of us outside in front of this beauty.
IMG_6620.jpg

We rode and I think we got Conga? Can't remember for sure and as it's late on the east coast, I can't send a txt to Seth because he gets his revenge for late txts by txting me at 4:30am my time when "he can answer them."

I choose violence.

Anyway, after that we wandered around and made our way to the great big beautiful ball. I still like this ride a lot except today with almost no line for the ride, they seated us in the same car with a couple behind us that felt the need to have a running conversation in another language.

We got stuck here and I asked Seth to take a photo because "it's a thing."
IMG_6631.jpg

We had a late lunch reservation so it gave us plenty of time to look around a little before we headed for World Showcase.

Some people don't like this statue, I think it's pretty cool.

I looked up and the sun caught Seth just right and while it annoyed him he agreed to do a little pose for me.😁

After this we went into "the store", I miss Mouse Gears. I bought one of the large Mickey light up Christmas heads that look like a candy cane. I thought I had a pic of it, if I find it I will post it later. It is large enough that I put it on my front porch at home as a decoration. I also had this sent home instead of carrying it.

People have talked about, and I totally 100% agree, that I miss the days of when you could have purchases sent back to your room. Then they downgraded to sending to the hotel shops, still very convenient, then last, you used to be able to send packages to the front of the park.
I don't know about you all, but taking away that last move was it for me. I buy a ton of trinkets but not nearly as much anymore due to having to lug it around all day. C'mon, Disney, you're cutting off your nose...

Anyway, we headed for WS and again as we had time we meandered. I have never in all of my trips taken this little path in China.
IMG_6644.jpg

This trip I did another thing I have never done. I told Seth how I read about the deliciousness of the caramel popcorn here, and it did not disappoint.
IMG_6645.jpg

Apparently the secret was out because the line was out the door! But, it moved quickly and then we wandered the store a bit.
IMG_6651.jpg

Having just unpacked 3 16 foot moving containers I am very proud I didn't buy this glass!🤣
(It didn't stop me from buying an unnecessary elf though!)

After this it was almost time for our reservation so we headed to Italy!

Epcot day continued!

We headed to our reservation at Via Napoli.
We arrived and were seated fairly promptly.

They had tons of empty tables and seated us at a 2 top over looking the entrance and with a large round table of 8 next to us that were not concerned with how much their chairs stuck out into the aisle nor the volume of their voices.

Anyway, we had a wonderful and very attentive waiter who took our orders promptly. We were brought bread that was accompanied by 2 dipping sauces. Our drinks were also received in a timely fashion.
IMG_5443.jpg

We then shared a salad meant for 2 people. It was odd because it's listed as a house salad, $9/person with a 2 person minimum. Not sure I understand that, but as we were both going to order a salad it was fine. It was served with a tasty vinaigrette.
IMG_5439.jpg

Seth ordered (I think manicotti), he said it was really good. If that doesn't look right feel free to correct me. He's sleeping so no texts, because we all know how that goes!
IMG_5445.jpg

I made a mistake with my order. I ordered a white pizza and that was exactly what it was. I am used to it having sliced tomatoes on it and so just added some from the salad. 🤷‍♀️ It worked. The waiter offered to bring some but I told him not to bother, it was ok. It tasted good despite my incorrect expectations.
IMG_6654.jpg

Since we were both full we declined dessert and headed out.

Seth wanted to stop in the Japan store and he bought a few trinkets.
We also happened to catch the amazing drummers. I don't know if you all remember but they were an absolute favorite of Gary's and we watched and shed a tear or two in remembrance. 🥹

I got lazy and asked Seth if he minded if we took the boat back across, by the time it made it's way over we could have easily walked in the same amount of time but it was nice to get a little ride.
IMG_6666.jpg

We started to make our way out of the park but Seth wanted to check out something in a shop so I sat on the back side of this small stage and watch an Encanto performance that had little kids participating it, it was very cute.
IMG_6667.jpg

After that we meandered out of the park. I thought this garland was really neat at the exit and then when I looked closer I realized what was actually on the ornament. Very cool!
IMG_6669.jpg

IMG_6670.jpg

We took time since we were walking to the car to check out the Leave a Legacy walls that were removed from the front of the park several years ago.
We had pics of Aleisha and Seth when he was maybe 4 years old and Aleisha would maybe have been late teens. We would always find them and have them point to themselves as they grew older.
IMG_6672.jpg

IMG_6673.jpg

I'm glad they moved them instead of destroying them. It's neat to be a part of something at the parks that has lasted this long.

After that we slowly made our way to the car. I got Chick-fil-A to take back to the room where I had a nice quiet dinner in the dining room of my room with the patio door opened to the evening air. It was lovely!
