I read on a website that there was a Mc Donalds within a short walking distance of the All-Star Sports resort. Is this true? Is it a 24 hour one? Are there any other food places near the All-Stars?

There is a 24 hour (drive through is 24 hour) McDonalds at the entrance of the all star resorts. It's a bit of a walk depending on where your room is.

Right when you get off Oscelola Parkway heading towards the All Star Resorts. I'm really not sure if I would walk there, but it's close.

Just so you know the prices are hiked at both McDonalds on property that one and the one at Downtown disney. for example. a normal 99 cent double cheeseburger costs you about 1.30 there.

I think only the drive thru is open 24 hours. And you can't walk through. Last month, while going through the drive thru, a group of teenagers where harassing the people in line to buy food. They wanted us to buy food for them. (they didn't have a car). I would have done it but they were being very rude, loud, and obnoxious and my daughter was in the car.

Dont go to McDonalds when your at Disney. You have many other places at the resorts and parks to eat.

The problem is with late-night options. Though there are a few exceptions (isn't the counter service area at the Contemporary still 24 hours?), after midnight you are out of luck. This is especially true if you don't have your own vehicle.

I'm very surprised that more resorts (especially the values and mods) don't have some sort of late-night options. I'm sure they've just done the math and it isn't cost effective, but as they encourage more and more people to come to WDW for a week or more without a car and without leaving Disney property I think it's going to become more of an issue.

The candy bar/chip machines at the resorts just don't cut it. You shouldn't expect filet mignon at 3am, but a hamburger or grilled chicken salad would be nice.

I completely agree about the food after 12....Disney should have a 24-hour something open at one of the All-Star Resorts, just in case. Most of the time I have non-perisables with me.

If you are staying in one of the new family suites at the All-Stars, they should have a small kitchen area...wouldn't hurt to keep a few snacks on hand for the kids!

Well Mcdonalds on site only has drive thru 24hours and you cannot walk to it anyway and if you could, they will not serve you without a car.

So if your going to get something to eat late at night just drive to lake beuna vista, you have a few opens there. Denny's perkins, waffle house, etc etc .

Contemporary is open 24 hours only during peak times. They are open until 12 like the other deluxe resorts snack bars.
But again if your staying at another resort you could not get to these unless your driving. Buses, monorail and boats dont go all night.

WDW is not set up as a 24 hour place. Mostly families with children so you dont have much of a late crowd. I am part of the late crowd because I love to walk the resorts and take lots of pictures and just have the places for ourselves.

Well, I did not read the above posts, but I always stay at All-star sports. In May of 06 was the first time I actually walked to MD's. It was about 1:30am, and the DT window was still open (I tried the front door, but the man inside said "Only the DT is open") So, I went to the DT windows, and placed my order (the menu was very restricted .. burgers, nuggets, fries) Bottom line, I got my MD's fix. BTW, It's about a 5 min walk from All-star Sports...just watch for oncoming buses

For the record, the Food & Fun Center at the Contemporary is open 24 hours. However the grill closes at 10:00 PM, so all that you have left is cold sandwiches & salads, which eventually get purchased very fast & are not re-stocked until the next morning. So you can go down at 1:00 or 2:00 AM to purchase whatever they have left & get a drink.

On a related note: I didn't realize the food court ever closed. I assumed they at least sold the wrapped sandwiches, salads, fruit etc. all night. Am I wrong? I guess I've never tried late at night but just assumed they'd be partially open if I did.

When do they open and close?

Is the gift shop at least open all night for cookies and candy bars?

I've never had a problem, but now that I'm realizing they may close at some point, I'm starting to worry that I'll want something late at night.

At Pop I think they closed at midnight in May. I know when we came back from EMH at Epcot, they were closing, but were nice enough to make a pizza for my kids.

The other 24-hour option available on-site is Picabu Buffeteria (formerly Tubbi's) at the Dolphin. Obviously it's not an option if you're at the All-Stars, but any of the Epcot resorts can get to it.

While most of the hotel food courts aren't open 24-hours, they're open until 11 or 12, and at least parts of them open at 6AM. That's 75% of the entire day that it's open. Pretty decent in my opinion. My suggestion: Plan ahead and pre-buy snacks for late-night cravings.

Also, I believe the Disney operator can connect you with select off-site food places that deliver to resort guests. (Domino's Pizza is the only one that's popping into my head at the moment.) There's also a phone book in your room if you want to look them up yourselves.
