Am I the only person that doesn't like him? Just curious. Something about a CM asking guests to write positive comments about him, and then crying when he gets less than 5 in one day irritates me

Is that for real? Wow... I don't know him, I have only been to DL once and it was a LONG time ago, but I've read about him on Disney Magazine and around here. People seem to like him, but this is surreal!

I was there a while back, and YES, he was one of the best CM's I've ever encountered, but his lack of modesty (ie, asking me to file a positive comment to GR) kinda, well.. ruined it for me. I know many other CM's that go to the extremes he does to make a guests experience magical, but none of them ask for recognition, because it's their job (or they're just modest). It just seems kinda asinine that someone asks for additional recognition for doing what their job entails.

As for the 5 in a day comment, though I personally have not experienced this, several DLR CM's (at least 17 i have spoken to) agree wholeheartedly with that statement.

He plays a quite eccentric individual. It could be in his "act". Or perhaps he's having a bad year/month/day/hour/minute etc.

We had a saleman that used to get his customers to write to our owners what a great salesman he was. Almost all of them ended 'Kudos for Jeffrey!'. It didn't take long for the owners to catch on, and he didn't last long.

This Maynard guy sounds like that... Where does he work at WDW? I'm going up the first weekend in December. Maybe I'll lodge a complaint about him... ;)

he works in DL, he actually has a website on intercotwest. Anyway, I'm not out to get him in trouble. He is a very, VERY good CM, I just think he's somewhat shady in how he goes about getting recognition.

and for those who are getting the DL commericals for Haunted Mansion Holiday get the treat of seeing Maynard twice in thise dang commercial...

OK, maybe it's just me but his antics seem to deter more from the show that give to the show. HM and JC are the two big ones that really bother me with him. I've seen him working Astral Orbiter and that's not too bad... I've heard he's also worked Fantasmic! crowd control, but never seen him in action there... and then there's the Tiki Room (sigh), which I have been extremely fortunate not to hear/see him at.
He has been known to ruin the show within the stretching room by popping on a flashlight to "scare" guests... he brings props onstage (finger puppets) and uses them in places like the stretching room and the exit conveyer.

Maybe it is me... and I'm not overly impressed by his antics. From what I understand, outside of work he's good at what he does... but within the berm of DL, it's not my kind of show.

This is the first time I've ever heard anything negative about Maynard. I was wanting to go see him when I go to Disneyland, but based on this thread he sounds like a shady prick. Is he really that bad? Some of his "antics" sound amusing.

it all depends on what you are expecting... when I first came across him he was working Astral Orbiter and it wasn't too bad and kind of funny... but the next time I ran into him was for the HM anniversary during a special event and I had the unfortunate experience to have him in the stretching room with me... and then again at the end of the ride. Personally it detracted from what DL was trying to do for this event.
But if I happen to see him working a certain attraction, I try to avoid that attraction that particular day only becasue I persoanlly can't stand him... but others seem to get a kick out him almost elevating him to a god-like status (see websites on just him)...

I actually think it is worth experiencing an attraction at DL Maynard style. He really does know how to brighten people's day and is very amusing to watch.
I wouldn't dismiss Maynard just because a couple of people don't like him (no offense to those that don't like him). I still think he is a good castmember.

I think he's a great (long-time)castmember and all he's trying to do is make people happy and have more of a memorable visit to DL. He does have an "extreme" personality, which maybe some people might be annoyed by, but seriously, you guys should really lighten up.......
Maynard's cool:animwink:

It's not his personality I don't like... it's the fact that he asked me to write a good comment about him at city hall. I had planned to already, but the fact that he was forward enough to request me to do so (with him having no prior knowledge of my intention to) was what I didn't like. Then again, I could also see his personality becoming, well... old and annoying after a while.
