So I called CM to get the rates for my May trip, and she starting giving me these crazy numbers. At my obvious surprise, she said they were having a promotion. I don't know what exact period it covered, just that it covered the end of May.

Here are the rates I was given:

Grand Floridian: $279 standard, $355 lagoon
Boardwalk: $219 standard, $300 lagoon
Wilderness Lodge: $156 Courtyard, Concierge $280

Hey kennedy, was that with out the email code :lookaroun

This is what I have learned about that email code. It is good from Feb 17 thru July 4th, must be booked by Feb 28th. Some people were saying that last year they were emailed a code, and later it was released to the puplic. Soooooo if you weren't able to use the code, maybe you can later, oh I don't know after Feb 28th is my guess. :drevil:

I also heard reports that peopled used room only codes and were able to add the MYW meal package also, so I guess it doesn't hurt to try. (we are AP so I can't do that.)

Ways to increase your chances of getting a code just for you. Register on the Disney World web site and register for the vacation planning guide. I am guessing here again, but when you say when you are most intrested in going, maybe that is when they send you the code. (both things I have done.)

Good to hear about the "promotion" good luck getting good rates everyone.

There are no discounts out for the general public yet. The only thing that is out for May is the postcard or e-mail with a personalized pin #. I do expect to see something out for room only and AP within the next couple of weeks

I was just wondering, how do you get the postcards? We've been to Disney, I ordered the planning DVD and everything people have said they do to get one, but I just never have. Any hints?? Thanks.

Maybe I can help...

Post card or e-mail discount offers (PIN offers) are randomly distributed by Disney's Marketing Department. The PIN offer is valid only for the family it was sent to, so it cannot be shared with others. Many post cards do get lost in the mail, and just as many e-mails get filtered by spam blockers. The good news is you don't need the PIN number to get the discount if an offer was sent to you, like in Kennedy's case. The reservation cast member will see the number when they locate your household information.

From what I have noticed, there are two common ways to start getting PIN offers. If you are a first time visitor, order a Planning Kit, this gets your household into Disney's database. If you are a repeat visitor, book a vacation without a discount. If you normally stay using other discount offers (Passholder, web offers, FL residents, etc.) you will be less likely be selected to get PIN offers.

Hope this helps...

So are you saying I can call and they will know if I'm on the list to get a discount. I call reservations?

Like you stated mail gets lost and I always receive other people mail. So I'm sure others receive mine.

Actually, my family received one of those postcards (they're really tri-fold cards). It was a personalized "invitation"--it regularly referred to our family by name--and included a PIN. It was a great offer, but we couldn't use it because the inclusive dates were awful. I called Disney anyway and told them that we couldn't visit within the set timeframe; the CM told me to call when I was ready to book for my dates, and they'd give me the current offer. I'm about to find out whether or not this will happen...

Normally you won't be told you have been sent a PIN offer unless the offer is available for the dates you are requesting. We don't want to get your hopes up if there is no discounted rooms left on the dates you want to visit us. Remember PIN offers are like other all other discount offers, there is only a very limited number of rooms available for a discount on any selected date.

A couple of things that will help you, always enter your correct home phone number to the computer prompt when asked. Never try to skip this question, and never enter your work number, cell number or other random set of numbers. This way your household information with any PIN offers can be auto-loaded on the screen for the cast member before you are connected to him or her. Second, never rush the cast member to "just see if a room is available" before they get your name, address, and other vacation information. If they check for availablity before properly searching and updating your household, the cast member has no way of seeing the PIN offer. If you have moved since your last visit to Walt Disney World, again ask the cast member to look for your old household info and update your address before checking for your reservation, a PIN offer may be in your old household information.

Please remember reservation cast members do not work on a commission. We really do want to give you the best rate that we can. However all of our calls can be monitored or recorded. We don't have discount rates or specials, we only have Marketing Offers. This simply means the offer is only available to you if you saw the marketing ad. We cannot tell you of any discount offers you don't directly ask us for. We will look for and can offer the PIN offer discount only if it is available for the dates you are requesting. We are not allowed to tell you that yes an offer was sent to you, unless you know the correct PIN number on the post card or e-mail. This also applies to other discount offers. If you are a FL resident, a member of AAA, or an Annual Passholder, you need to ask us for a FL offer, an AAA offer, or a Passholder offer. For example, as silly as it sounds, just because you gave us a Florida address, we cannot assume you have proof of FL residency so we cannot offer a FL discount offer without you asking us for it.

I hope this helps! :sohappy:

Thanks for the help. That is great info. Do they sometimes send stuff to DVC members to try to get them to use Non-DVC resorts too? I noticed we would get post cards after joining. :lookaroun

From what I can tell the postcards are mostly random, but are based on new entries into Disney's database, and on repeat guest that are not regularly usings other discounts. When you joined DVC you may have be re-entered into the database, hence you started getting the postcards. I have been told that no live person picks who gets the PIN offers, the computer does, based on the above criteria. And the more you go without a discount, the more likely you will get a discount offer in the future.
