Hey everyone, I'm undecided whether or not to go to WDW in May-June or June-July. If I go in May I'll be there for the end of the F&G festival and SWW but if I go in June-July I know it's gonna be crowded but I'll be there for SWW and July 4th. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Not an old homophobe but would rather not have to have that conversation with my boys while there. I dont have an issue with anyone's lifestyle and how they choose to live their life but also dont want to see over the top PDA from same sex couples or anyone flaunting their sexuality in public.
I would advise against any Disney vacation until the kids are a little older. I live in Orlando and frequent the parks on a regular basis. You are likely to see gay people any time of year.

At some point, someone will tell your kids, "Some men love women and some men love men." Once the kids have learned that, you will be spared the arduous task of having that conversation and can then visit our fair city without worry. :)

I'm not sure we're speaking the same language here. My family and I have been there numerous times over the past few years. We've never had to worry about this before but we have never been during this time of the year or during the "gay days". I'm sure that we have seen gay people in the parks(cant ever recall seeing any PDA though) and again I dont have a problem with that. What I am concerned about and trying to get a feel for is how "flamboyount" they may be during that week or however long those "days" last. I appreciate you sharing you insights on what we can expect to experience and will take that for what its worth.

Flamboyant. I don't know. I can't say. It might be an uneventful day. But you might encounter a group of screaming queens everywhere. Alberts all over the place, in desperate need of PIRIN tablets. You just never know. You've been living on the edge, already, visiting Disney...a place that is visited, staffed and run by many gay people. So, you might want want to keep going to WDW.

You might want to stay away.

Also, if their kids pick up on your attitude, then they'd have to have that conversation with their children, which would be heartbreaking if they hadn't already done it - to have to explain that to their children in Disney World, of all places.

It might be better for all involved if those who might become ill at ease around a gay couple would just avoid gay days.

May for Flower & Garden. Although rain and tropical storms are unpredictable, May is likely to have better weather than July. Less humid, fewer thunderstorms.

Gay Days aren't a big deal, crowd-wise. Disney is very gay-friendly and you're likely to encounter gay couples (and staff) all year. So, if you're a big, old homophobe, you should reconsider any Disney vacation. If you aren't, there is no issue. :)

There is no issue with Gay Days with me, I have friends who are gay.
