I dont know for sure, but Im guessing it would be a media event to kick off the 50th Celebration.

I would say it's because of the big press event for the 50th ! Although I don't know why only epcot is closing I guess either its a mistake or that is the center of the celebration because I don't remember if that was the main park for this celebration or not.

I think that's a safe bet. Darn, and I wanted to be at MK that day.... Maybe we'll have to get up early and be there in the morning. Oh, the pictures would be awesome!!! I bet MGM will be quite busy in the evening, also.

I have to say this was well, well rumored.

I am actually glad it is only for one day.... I will be there from April 27th-May 8th.... but actually plan on Typhoon Lagoon on the 5th.

I took the day off from work to be at the MK on 05/05/05, I guess I'l have to go early in the day when EPCOT is still open

Umm isnt soarin supposed to be opening up at that time??????

Soarin' official opening is that day, as well as the other 50th anniversary attractions, however soft opening will be weeks before that date for all those attractions. The press event is 3 days long starting May 3rd.

I thought the press event was May 4th-6th? But with the 5th the only one affecting park hours.

Not that it matters really. But those are the nights when there are no public seatings at all WS restaurants...
