Max occupancy at MK

I went to MK for a special parade we did for the Capital One Bowl Game. I am in the Purdue marching band. For those that are curious we asked one of the staff in the backstage area of the park what max occupancy was for the park before it was closed....because when we were there...it was.....anyway the number they gave us was 55,000. Just thought some of you might be interested in this fact.

The Walt Disney World® Resort is 47 square miles (twice the size of Manhattan!) but the Magic Kingdom park, one of four major theme parks around the Resort, is significantly smaller than 47 square miles... Anybody have an exact number of acres the Magic Kingdom takes up? :)

55,000? That has to be wrong. That's bigger than 99% of where most of us live. I can't possibly imagine that MK has the infrastructure to support 55,000 people at one time.

55,000 time $50/head = $2,750,000 just in gate receipts!!!

When they close the gates at MK varies, depending on how much staff is on hand and time of year. But yes, during peak season it is around 50,000.

I listened to band practice at the Florida Mall on the 29th or 30th.

I nearly got hit by the speeding train on OBT after the game.

The La Superdome (The site of LSU kicking some butt :animwink: ) is on 52 acres and had a crowd of 80,000 for the Sugar Bowl. This includes the buildings, parking lot, etc. This half the size of MK, so although crowded at 55000 you should still be able to move.

I believe its higher than 55,000. Disneyland holds 80,000 and as many as 99,000 have be to the Magic Kingdom on a single day- that number is way off...

Certainly 99,000 people can travel through MK in a day, but not simultaneously. The park was originally envisioned to support 100,000 people, but as time goes on the number has been adjusted downwards, mostly due to comfort/queue feedback and also due to staffing requirements.

Yes but remember that much of the Magic Kingdom is taken up by trees, gardens, water, and buildings. Guests can not fill these areas. And buildings such a the Haunted Mansion are huge but only a small part have guests. I bet that the actual are used by guess is more like 25 acres.

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRG! As a CM we are not allowed to say, most of us are not even allowed to know, it is a HUGE safety problem for people to know how many people we are allowed to fit in our parks. I really wish people would not come out and say the capacity, it's not safe for it to be out in the open like that.

Why not? I really don't see why it would be bad- its not like people are going to know how many people are in the park....i always though MK"s capactiy was like 80,000, AK 29,000, IOA and US around 40,000, and MGM and Epcot i have no idea...these are just guesses

wrong my dear, child tickets are less expensive, then there's the APs, the park hoppers, the CMs who get in for free, any guest that they can bring, so ya. That's not accurate, but good math anyway :)

I would have to think that 55k is a conservative number. Paramounts Kings Island in Mason Ohio is declared full at the 75k mark and is approx. the same size as the MK. On the otherhand, the annual Labor Day Riverfest attracts up to 500k and is confined to an area less than half the size of MK (with trees buildings and tons of porta potties).
