It's true!

Dear Team:

For the past seventeen years, my family and I have been part of something very special — we have been part of the larger Disney family. This week, that chapter of our lives ends as I've accepted the position of President, Hotel Group with Starwood Hotels and Resorts.

It has been a privilege to work with the extraordinary people who collectively make up our Cast. It has been an honor to watch your hard work come to life as ships were launched, resorts were opened and theme parks sprung up around the globe.

Representing you in the local community has been humbling and very rewarding. At every event I attended, someone — usually multiple people — told me their story of how one of our Cast Members made a difference in their lives.

It has been an honor to be a small part of the legacy that is Disneyland during the celebration of its 50th anniversary. From my office window, I can clearly see the Matterhorn, Space Mountain and the Tower of Terror — and I am certain my new office will have a much less compelling view. In a three minute walk I can enter Toontown and wander the Park. Most of the time I'm just enjoying watching our Guests and our Cast … and that is what I will miss most of all.

On a recent trip to Walt Disney Imagineering, I had the opportunity to look at the future of the Disneyland Resort through the lens of an Imagineer, and I left that session with a big smile on my face — but knowing that I'd have to watch this magic play out from a distance.

Please accept my sincere appreciation for everything you've done for our Guests, your fellow Cast Members and my family and me

Nooo!!!! I don't want Matt Ouimet to go. :(

Let's just hope and pray that his replacement will be a good one rather than another Cynthia Harriss.

Matt just knows that Starwood is a better company to work for. :lookaroun

And this can only mean great things for our hotels, hopefully he does something even MORE for the Swan and Dolphin.

(Look forward to working for him and seeing him in a couple months! :D )

Excuse my ignorance, but why does everybody like this guy? I know nothing about him, but I like that the idea of filling his role with that TDS guy.

Matt did a great Deal for the DL Resort. He basically turned the entire property around from the several years of poor management before him. He earned the respect of the CM's and was an inspiration to Disney managers and CM's all over the world.

woooooooow.....

First - a WONDERFUL gentleman. responds to almost every e-mail he gets. Walks the parks almost every day for an hour. Stops to help Guests, even if it's for 20 minutes. takes time out for the Cast and even strangers to discuss. VERY humble and very friendly.

second - has a passion for the parks and its history.... really pushed for quality.... got the entire park fixed up for the 50th. re-did the termite-infested Tiki Room, and go the whole place painted....

third - vision!!! he wants EVERYthing that's closed to reopen as SOMETHING or be removed..... brought back the subs, bringing back concepts for the abandoned peoplemover.... anything that's abandoned he wanted fixed up, replaced, or reopened......

It's hard to find his human qualities around men.......and especially top executives!

Not to mention his desire to turn around the struggling DCA. :D

Lee had posted that most of his plans will be implemented in the next five to six years are for DCA. :D

Wow, sounds like this is quite the loss. It's great how Disney tends to attract people like Matt. Hopefully he will have inspired others in the company to be more like him.

Anyone know anything about his replacement, other than that he is from TDL?
