Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree Now in Testing Mode
Posted on December 22, 2011 by John Frost

Over at California Adventure the area now known as Cars’ Land (the apostrophe makes it possessive, which I guess is an important clue to the theme) is getting closer to opening. Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree, where baby tractors twirl and swing around, pulling trailers behind them (where we get to sit), has, just recently, begun daily testing.

It’s supposed to be just on the fun side of a slow paced ride. It’s for the little ones after all. I don’t see myself riding it a lot, but if I had a toddler, I predict I’d be on it all the time. What do you think?

Although I won't rule anything out until I try it, it does look a little monotonous from the video.
Seems like the tractor/trailer combo simply spins in a circle with the trailer occassionally "sliding" outboard of the tractor.

Hmm - we'll see!

How is it that the ride vehicles seem to randomly switch what tables they are rotating around? is that clear? Like at the 6 second mark in the video, the first tractor peels off to the right, the next tractor peels off to its left. Is this randomly done or is this just a more complicated version of the teacups (where some teacups are on a rotating table within the giant spinning ride?)

It's a more complicated verison of Francis' Ladybug Boggie and Cars Race Rally. Francis has 2 turntables, and Cars has 2 sets of turntables(detached from each other but operate at the same time). While Mater's has 2 sets of 4 tables(or "2" rides if you will I think Primeval Whirl).

The vehicles aren't necessarily randomly going left or right, it's mainly the why the ride system works so the vehicle makes a full trip around all "X" amount tables. Hopefully that makes since the videos and concept art below should help what I'm trying to say:).

Here you can see the "2" rides

I imagine once Mater's is operating at full speed it will be quite fun.

Edit- Completely forgot about The Whirlpool
