Seeing as how Disney food and restaurants are a favorite topic of a lot of people; I know this will get a lot of feedback from many here.

I myself am a big foodie and love to cook and eat! I watch almost all the big food shows (Masterchef, Hell's Kitchen, The Next Food Network Star, Iron Chef, etc.)

So, would you watch a show that had to do with Disney restaurants, Disney chefs, dishes, etc. that had a similar setup to one of these shows? Maybe the 'Next Disney World Chef' or 'Disney Chef Battle'- just as a rough example.

Could Disney cash in on something like this, or would Disney wind up with egg on their face? (yes, pun intended :D) What ideas would you do?

By the way, I found this on the Disney Blog:

http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2010/07/disney-quick-bites-july-28/

Disney Chef Dee Foundoukis on “Iron Chef.” Fans of the Food Network’s “Iron Chef” competition can keep an eye out for Walt Disney World Chef Dee Foundoukis – she’s off to New York to assist Chef Cat Cora in an upcoming episode that tapes Friday. Cat is the only female Iron Chef, and Dee runs the kitchen at her Kouzzina by Cat Cora restaurant at Disney’s BoardWalk. The two chefs have worked together in the Kouzzina kitchen, and Cat obviously thinks Dee is up to the task as she battles the legendary Iron Chefs of America.

EPCOT played host to an episode of Restaurant:Impossible, Unwrapped has covered Walt Disney World and Guy Ferry hosted a show about food at Disneyland, so it's clear Food Network already has connections, they just aren't saturating the market so far.

I think the problem with going too far is the fact Disney's food offerings are mostly static. The Food and Wine Festival is about the only other major offering I don't recall seeing covered, but even the more "market driven" restaurants don't really see any dramatic changes from year to year.

Yes, I'd tune in weekly to watch Disney chefs do battle and be judged (or harassed) by any of those famous TV chef judges/critics. As someone whose cooking skills are basically limited to boiling a hot dog and mixing up a tuna fish sandwich, I enjoy watching and appreciate someone who knows how to cook well and put together a meal .

I'm sure there are plenty of cooks at WDW that would love to be able to step outside the daily grind and really show what they can do.

I can't imagine it's much of a stretch of the culinary skills to make mac n cheese and chicken nuggets for thousands of people each day.

I think a Top Chef style show with a grand prize along the lines of the reward on Hell's Kitchen is where I'd go. They'd spend the bulk of the show until the final 5 or 6 competing at WDW...anything from restaurant wars set up in different ballrooms, making snack food good for walking around the parks, upgraded counter service food on a budget at one of the Value or Mod food courts, wedding wars at the GF, a kids based challenge at one of the character dining spots, a cooking around the world challenge where each person gets a country from the WS in Epcot (i.e. draw knives for countries), and doing a high end multi course tasting meal at V&A's...after that- the semi-final would have them fly out to Cali at DLR and they'd do some kind of challenge at the Grand Californian to arrive at the final 4...who would then be flown to Hawaii for the final challenges in Hawaii at Aulani.

The winner would get to act as head chef/creative director/etc. at a brand new TS restaurant somewhere at WDW. But that's just how I'd do it. :D

And I think everyone involved would win $ wise.

it would be fun to see for an episode of any of those shows but i don't think you'd get much further than that. i watch the shows you mentioned as well. i could see a show like top chef, next food network star etc... doing an episode easiely at wdw. i wonder what and episode of extreme chef, iron chef, or chopped would be like in a disney setting with a disney theme? they certanly doa lot of disney promotions on challenge (mainly in cake).

We watch all those shows as well. I would love, love, love to see a Disney chef cooking competition.
Or how about a new experience....."Cooking with a Disney Chef"?

I've seen a few Food Network Challenges in Disney World and Disneyland. Typical pick a ride or character and make a cake based around it.

I think The Next Food Network Star would do well at the World, but it takes so long for competitions like that. Granted they only take about a month to film, that's a long time to do something like that at a place that Food Network doesn't own or get for cheap rent.

I would totally watch this. I can't remember what show it was, but they did one where the contestants had to run through the Magic Kingdom looking for ingredients and then they cooked in front of the riverboat? That was fun, much more interesting than the average cooking competition.
