Mastercards accepted at Food Carts?

I would like to get my adult kids pre-paid mastercards for their use on our trip. Are these accepted everywhere, i.e.? Food Carts? Small shops? All restaurants and souvenier shops?

I'd say 98% of the locations in WDW will take credit cards. The usual exceptions are walk-around sales people like balloons or the "glow carts" before the parades. Some smaller stands like popcorn or ice cream didn't have the capability, but I think they've gotten them over the past couple years. The rule of thumb is that if it has a register, it'll take credit cards.

You could also look into the Disney Gift Card, if you want something a little more "Disney" and want to avoid the fees associated with getting one of the pre-paid cards. They're accepted everywhere credit cards are accepted within Disney World, with a few exceptions in Downtown Disney at the non-Disney-owned stores and restaurants. The gift cards can be purchased at your local Disney Store and online. They're available in the basic Mickey logo, but a lesser-known tip is that you can order gift cards through the Disneyland website, and have a choice of about 8-10 different designs. And shipping is free.

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst...

Get 'em a MasterCard gift card, but also maybe get them some regular old Disney Dollars, which are accepted just about everywhere in WDW and treated just like cash. This way, on the off chance they want something that can't accept the card, they've got the Disney Dollars as a backup.

I don't mean to sound rude, but what's wrong with giving them some cash? Cash can be used anywhere. I for one get sick and tired of being stuck behind some guy or gal be it at the market or Disney World who's using a card to pay for a three dollar item. Contrary to what the card company commercials would like you to think, it's not faster to use a card at most locations, especially the Outdoor Food locations at Disney World. I did my CP at MGM ODF, and the wireless credit card system was very slow. People who used their cards or room keys slowed down the process for everyone. While it might be more conveniant for a person to have everything on one bill be it the room bill or credit card bill, it slows down other people's vactions. (Steps off soapbox.)

From Merry Rose again:very good ideas!

Thanks for the ideas. The reason I don't want to give them cash - they're both slightly disabled. I can just see them handing over a twenty and not waiting for the change. I love the Disney Dollar idea and Disney Gift Card idea - that way I can give them a certain amount on a Disney Gift Card every day, such as $25.00 per day. I found this website today - joined it today and got my answers today. Thanks to all of you!
