Masking Tape and the Environment

I recently read an article explaining how most masking tape is not biodegradable and not good for the environment.

This had me thinking about how much masking tape MK uses daily for all the parades and fireworks as boundaries for crowd control.

Don't you think that WDW could think of a better way instead of miles of masking tape daily?

They kinda came up with it with the metal lines at DHS… but those don’t get used really, lol

Makes you wonder which is worse for the environment, the miles of masking tape or the exhaust from the Indy Cars

Hmmmm, wonder how all the bazillion painting contractors who use masking tape on a daily basis are going to take this news. They use more masking tape in a day than Disney does in a year. I’m sure Dis who’s shown us how they are progressive in other ways are working on this critical issue already. We must save the world one park at a time.
Maybe they can use chalk and erase the lines when they are done. Maybe set up lazer pointer lights lining off barrier lines. Maybe ask guests to hold hands and set up human barriers.

And exactly how are rides bunny hugging eco friendly? Shouldn't they return the parks from paved surfaces and structures to Pine woodlands ? Fill in the Seven Seas lagoon (it's man made of course only Bay Lake is natural) and of course substitute all of that food imported from other parts of the country with local produce ? How about the carbon footprint of all those nasty tourists that don't walk from their homes to the parks ?

They use tape because its an easy visual queue that doesn't upset guests like shock rods would. Some love to just drain any semblance of joy out from anything and everything in the name of a personal cause.

Instead of complaining about masking tape, why don’t you complain about ALL the petroleum products that are wasted making all those STUPID, WASTEFUL plastic clamshell packaging for the overpriced toys that are sold on a daily basis…

Bubble wands, blinkies, balloons....

That’s true, but those pesky, annoying, need a Skilsaw to open clamshell blister packs are an absolute menace to mankind.
And I find it very ironic that you hear complaints about the speedway exhaust, the CO2 and methane coming from the animals on the safari, now the fireworks and masking tape and yet the biggest problem is that packaging and yet CRICKETS…

Or all the Chlorine they put in pools as it evaporates into the air. Terrible for the environment. All the asphalt they have which is like an oil spill everywhere. AND the massive amount of electric they use which the majority is generated using natural gas (fracking you know). You are worried about tape and exhaust?

I have always felt the premier entertainment company that is known for crowd management should be able to find a better way to maneuver crowds than masking tape, whether or not it is bad for the environment. It just seems like such an odd crowd control choice.

Yea, I have to agree. With all the problems in the world to be concerned about masking tape doesn't even register any degree of concern. That said, however, I think we are being pranked.
