Mary Poppins on Broadway

Hi all! :wave:

Ryan got us tickets to see Mary Poppins on Broadway for my birthday! We'll be going in the beginning of April-perfect prelude to our April 30-May 8 WDW trip! So excited!!! Although I've sen MANY Broadway shows, I've never seen a Disney show.

Anyone seen it? I've heard wonderful things about it.

I haven't seen it - but my cousin was telling me is was more dark (like wizardry type dark) than peppy - sort of on the style of Wicked, if you've seen that (which I have also not seen). She definitely enjoyed it - but said it wasn't the same tone as the movie. I'm sure someone will come along that's seen it - but no one commented yet - so I figured I'd pass along my minimal second-hand info.

Ohh hmm that's not what I've heard at all :lol: wow interesting. I have not seen Wicked but heard that was amazing. Well I guess we'll see! Thanks for commenting!

I've seen it a bunch of times, in London, in NY, and on tour...

It's a great shot -- it isn't "dark" but it isn't the movie either -- it keeps all the movie music, but the book (the script) follow the book more than the movie.

It is in no way "dark" thought -- it's fun, bright, and is absolutely filled with stage magic...

What it DOES do is increase the family story-line, so you get to know more about what drives the dad, why things are getting dire, and what happens when children don't listen to their nannies...

You will love it!

I saw it at the Kennedy Center in DC. It was great. Its more related to the novels than the movie that Disney did. But I promise you won't be disappointed.
