Following the announcement that Joss Whedon is returning to write and direct Marvel's The Avengers 2 (Marvel Studios and Disney say the film is still untitled for now) comes official word that the release date for the sequel has been set for May 1, 2015. There is no other movie schedule for that date yet.

The first film, released on May 4, has earned $1.462 billion at the worldwide box office, which makes it the third-biggest release ever trailing only James Cameron's Titanic ($2.185 billion) and Avatar ($2.782 billion). "The Avengers" has earned $617.3 million domestically and $844.6 million overseas.

The team-up sequel will be preceded by Iron Man 3 on May 3, 2013, Thor: The Dark World on November 8, 2013, Captain America: The Winter Soldier on April 4, 2014 and Guardians of the Galaxy on August 1, 2014.

It is possible that Ant-Man will hit theaters before "The Avengers 2" as well, though a release date has not yet been set.

I just hope executives and managers at The Walt Disney Company and Walt Disney Pictures leave Marvel Studios alone. Don't need nobodies without a creative bone in their body trying to make themselves look good by forcing themselves into these films.

It seems like a fair point from which to judge now... The Amazing Spider-Man, while not a bomb by any means, is the lowest-grossing entry of the four Spider-Man movies. Domestic, Worldwide, Adjusted for Inflation, etc. and this is for a movie with 3D ticket inflation working in its favor. All is going according to plan in order to get Spidey a cameo in Avengers 2. If Iron Man 3 does as well as or better than the other Iron Man movies, then that's another good sign. Disney has huge expectations to fulfill for the next Avengers, and a Spidey cameo would garner goodwill, as well as toy money. Sony could see it as a way to give Spidey a little boost at the box office for the next movie if he's associated with the Avengers. Sony and Disney have been friendly so far in regards to the Spider-Man rights, so it's not out of the question. I've got my fingers crossed.

Official outfit for the scarlet witch^ that is Elizabeth olsen in costume. As a fan of the Scarlet witch I am very pleased with this modern update to her look!

I don't believe that is her official costume, just street clothes. If that was her official costume, I would be disappointed. I never liked the animated goth takes on SW and I think she needs more of a gypsy vibe like some of her comic costumes.

...then why even use them?!
Because they are still members of the avengers in the comic and the scarlet witch is one of the most powerful players in the marvel universe, she can rewrite the world to her liking. I am sure that will be used in the films somewhere down the line. Plus they dabble between good and evil so that would be interesting to see as well. If they ever wanna make the young avengers into something down the line (which I can totally see) her and pietro are crucial.

This isn't the first time something like this has happened. Nightcrawler is the son of Azazel and Mystique, but it didn't play out that way in X-Men 2. Azazel wasn't even in that movie, he showed up in X-Men: First Class.

Well, but at least Azazel, Magneto and Mystique disappear together at the end of First Class!

It's wierder that Havoc, Cyclops younger brother, is at least 40 years older than him, lol

This article about this topic is pretty fun:

It sucks that they can't be referred to as mutants or Magneto's kids, but both characters are integral parts of Avengers comics history so anyway I can see them on the big screen I'll take it. From what I've read they will be referred to as "miracles" (another M word) and there should be no reference to their lineage of any kind.
