I think Mando struggles to break even (even with its comparatively tiny budget), and this movie will make a profit (and do quite well if it’s at least decent), though making nowhere near the profit it should’ve given its stupid budget.

That one was the best of the three so far IMO. But still relies utterly on nostalgia for old characters without much enticement for anything new.

Basically Endgame marketing all over again.

Why break what works?

Though the goodwill for this movie is just not there like it was, but people are still craving an Avengers flick. Spider-Man if it’s decent at least and lands with general audiences (even though it looks sort basic and safe), will be Doomsday’s true marketing push in my opinion. It’s going to remind all of these people of their characters, so the Kang saga and the shows people didn’t watch won’t matter as much.

I’m intrigued to see what they do after Part 2 though.

I’m curious to see how both these films do, I think both IPs are tarnished but I’d argue they’re still the biggest franchises in Hollywood and have the biggest box office potential, along with Jurassic Park/World, Spider-man, and a few other major players.

I think both will have great opening weekends, when the diehard fans show up, but the second weekend should tell the real story of whether more casual fans are going to show up or simply wait for streaming.

I have no idea what to expect with box office anymore, I think they have the potential to hit a Billion each but I could also see them struggling to hit a Billion combined, theaters are so hit or miss I wouldn’t be surprised by either outcome.

I had low expectations for doomsday too for all these reasons.

But there’s the X factor of it all and that’s some of their franchises aren’t broken. Spiderman seems posed to blow the doors off (again), Deadpool just was huge. So even if a lot of MCU seems long in the tooth, there are those franchises that aren’t and they are showing up.

There’s also the delayed gratification that it took way too long to get here but finally, finally it’s Avengers X Fox properties and clearly everyone has wanted that for over a decade now.
