Speak for yourself. There are many of us that have an emotional attachment to them. They are all part of a continuing story that has advanced and changed over time. I don't need a time line to enjoy the shows or an actual detailed connection to a past IP. Han was killed by his son (story wise), Leia is dead (in reality) Chewie is nothing without Hans, Luke is short handed and Vader is also no longer around for Fathers Day. 3PO and R2D2 have been replaced by a cheap smart phone. Time moves on!

It's strange how so many of those who don't like the newer movies so often say "Nobody likes them" as though they've researched it and have statistical results. On the flip side those who like them (like yourself) never seem to say "Everybody loves them".
