Marathon Weekend?

We will be at WDW during the Marathon Weekend. We arrive January 6th and depart January 11th. We aren't in the marathon and don't know what to expect.

We were thinking of doing Epcot on Friday, January 7th; and MK on Sunday, January 9th. Is this a bad idea? What will the parks be like? We are also staying at ASMusic... will it be terrible there?

We've been to MK several times on the Sunday of the marathon and have never really noticed any difference. Now, we are late risers so I can't testify for what it may be like right at opening, but later in the day I've never noticed a problem. It is rather difficult to get around property in the morning if you're driving into the parks because certain roads are closed. If you're taking the buses though, that shouldn't be a problem. We've never stayed on property when we go at this time of year, so I can't answer your question about ASMusic.
