Man Tries To Kidnap Teen Girl Near Disney
:15 p.m. EDT May 5, 2003
ORLANDO, Fl (WFTV Channel 9 ABC) -- We have a community alert in Orange County. Deputies are searching for a man who tried to kidnap 13-year-old girl Monday morning at the Summerfield Suites Hotel near Apopka-Vineland Road, not far from Disney.
Police have been talking with the girl to get a good description of her attacker. Monday afternoon, deputies at the Orange County Sheriff's Office released a composite sketch of a man who they say tried to abduct the 13-year-old.
And while they don't have any eyewitnesses, deputies do have something to go on in hopes of getting this guy off the streets. Instead of a handgun and handcuffs, crime fighter Steve Fusco uses pencil and paper. His latest artwork hopefully will lead to the arrest of a man who tried to abduct the girl at a Disney-area hotel.
With few leads to go on Monday morning, deputies went back to the drawing board, going page by page in a book of distinguishable features. Shortly after a 45-minute session with the victim he came up with a composite.
Fusco takes great pride in assisting victims. His drawings have helped to erase countless criminals from the streets. Now, he hopes to find the man who grabbed a teenager whose vacation ended with a picture that won't make her scrapbook.
The girl is okay. Her grandparents, who she is with, were shaken up but are, no doubt, glad that instead of looking for their granddaughter tonight, deputies are looking for a suspect.
