My wife and I really want to try some appetizers and drinks at a few different TS spots. We dont want to have a full meal, just keep it light and try a few new things in the process. Im not trying to do something silly like go to Victoria and Alberts and eat the cheapest thing to be able to say we ate there. More along the lines of La Hacienda for Margaritas and Fundido or Le Cellier for beer cheese soup and creme brulee.

Anybody else ever done this? Anybody know if wait staff hates when people do this? I figured in the end they are still getting a tip and will have another table as soon as we leave so it cant be too bad for them.

There's nothing wrong with this at all. When dining out, it's not uncommon for people to order an appetizer as their meal -- my family members in food service see it all the time. As for the bill, appetizers and drinks can easily end up costing as much or more than an entree and a soda, so the staff isn't going to lose out if you're giving a %-based tip.

Brown Derby has that new bar section that doesn't require a reservation. It has it's own menu but maybe they will let you order from the main menu.

Thanks for the responses guys and gals. I was worried there was some Disney etiquette I wasnt aware of which frowns upon this. Good points that some of the appetizers cost as much as an entree. Certain places like Le Cellier can be hit or miss if you order steak and I dont feel like risking $100+ for us to have a full meal. Over the years we have found we move around easier when we have several smaller meals throughout the day and dont feel so bloated. Thanks for the tip about Brown Derby, @Texas84 . That sounds perfect for us and we love finding new places to eat. And I definitely agree with you, @mrdisman, some appetizers are better than the entrees!

Most times when I've made a reservation at the Flying Fish, I've gotten a salad and then the Mussel appetizer as my entree. Waitstaff always seemed just fine. Did the same thing at Cali Grill right after they opened back up. I don't generally eat big meals & usually a couple of appetizers or an appetizer & a salad / soup are just right for me. It will be fine.

We do it for desert and cordials at CG during wishes. I worked in the restaurant industry for almost 20 years, and have noticed that our server never cares, and is quite honestly pleased that we will be in and out fairly quick and that we are a low maintenace table.

We've shared an appetizer and dessert only and never had a problem. The wait staff has always been fine with this. It's a quick turnover for them.
