Making room requests

We arrive at the Contemporary on October 20th, this may be a silly Question, but how would I go about making a special room request? There are two separate linked reservations so we have two rooms, and I wanted to request adjoining rooms. Would my best option be to call the hotel directly? Email disney? Or call WDW? Thanks all :)

I've heard that it is no sooner than 4 days. That is the maximum length of time that Disney can safely "hold a room" for a guest.
I wasn't holding a room, just making sure my request was honored. Or maybe it's another CM thing where different info is provided. I followed what I was told before this past trip. I called the DVC to confirm the "10 day" thing. The person I spoke with was quite pleasant, put me on hold, called over to BLT to speak with the front desk, and told me I'm all set. My request was honored better than it has ever been before.

Yes. You can. You make the request when you make the reservations. Whether that is 5 days or 5 months in advance. it doesn't really matter when you do it. I just wouldn't wait until 4 days out to do so because the Room Assignor may already have your room assigned.
I don't know if this is still true or not but a few years ago when WDW switched to the LILLO computer system, I remember reading that room assignments were done by a computer. The only guests who had their room assigned by an actual Cast Members were those staying Club Level, which was done by a Club Level Cast Member.

You misunderstood my response. The way it used to be (apparently it is not this way any longer) is that a Room Assignor would put your room number "on hold" for your upcoming trip about 4 days out. I didn't mean that you personally were holding a room for yourself. However, according to Inkeeper's Club it is done by a computer now.

I also wondered about faxing room requests. I asked Disney via an e-mail and received the following response.

"Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World® Resort.

We are happy to let you know that you are still welcome to fax in a room request if you would like. The fax number for Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort is 407-934-2736"

My wife and I will be celebrating our 30'th anniversery at CBR starting on Sept 23'rd and I am sending a fax 4 days before to ask for a first floor room in the Martinque buildings.

Having recently done online check-in at CBR (we just got home last night) I can tell you that when you do online check-in, you will have the option to select Martinique plus another option such as which floor.

Honestly, we had such an amazing view this time, I would love to have them hold the room for me for next time! I'll let you know in only 334 days! Woo hoo!

Regarding Fax Request: If you have a TouringPlans account, it offers a feature on your Dashboard (also in Room Search) where you can put in the location of the resort you want to stay, and they will fax it to the resort for you:) We haven't tried it yet but have two scheduled for our split trip next month (ASM and SSR).
