Making Dining Reservations On Split Vacation Reservations

I've been reading everybody's experiences in making their Dining Reservations and it has me concerned because mines is this Sunday morning 4am in my time zone. LOL. Ok, so here's my story, I'ma try to be as brief as possible. I originally purchased an Atrium Level Theme Park View package for the Contemporary Resort from Oct 16-24. I then decided to split my reservation where we're still at the Contemporary but we'll be moving up to the 14th Floor to the Theme Park View 1BR Suite from Oct 19-24. I now have one package and a Room only reservation on my MDE acct. I was told by a CM in reservations that since its split I will have to make my Dining Reservations 180 days from check in date of each reservation. I'm thinking ok, no biggie, Hakuna Matata. LOL. But then I read on forums, websites, blogs that that might not be the case at all, some said otherwise, its basically been mixed. Also, when I went to Disney's website to play around with making Dining Reservations, I saw that Oct 16-24 was highlighted but greyed out for obvious reasons. And now, reading how the website glitches when you're trying to make Dining Reservations has me a little concerned, not worried, just concerned. Trust me, I've had many experiences where their website craps out on me even when I'm doing a simple search for something. LOL. So everybody, help me out here, three questions for you, will I be able to making my Dining Reservations in one fell swoop on Sunday morning? What are the odds of the website not glitching on me while trying to make my Dining Reservations? And if God forbid, I have to contact Reservations, what are the chances of me getting the times I want for a specific restaurant like Be Our Guest? Any info you guys can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Briefly - you're staying at a Disney Resort from Oct 16th. You can make your ADRs for 10 days (180+10) on Sunday.

It doesn't matter about the split stay as that second period is covered under the first part of the booking.

Good Luck at 4am

Are you sure of that? a friend of mine has a split stay and wasn't able to book more than the days covered by the first reservation, either on the website or by phone.

See, that's what I'm talking about!!!!! LOL. Obviously, I won't know till its time to make my Dining Reservations but I want to make sure that I can avoid any possible glitches, at least the ones I can control I mean. There's a lot of mixed comments across the Disney World community on various sites, blogs & forums. So what's your say in this kirari? I'm going to have to go with the strongest consensus on this, right now, its half and half. LOL.

Same fight for me lol. Have 3 separated reservation covering nights from 1 to 17 november, and I'd really love to be able to make all my major ADR when my first window will open. But Disney system doesn't seem to be okay with that.

Knowing how the Dining Reservations are will also give me some sense on how doing FastPasses will be when that time comes. I spoke to a Cast Member about it and she said to make Dining reservations 180 days from your check in date(s) on each reservation. It makes a whole lot of sense of course but after reading from a good amount of people that say otherwise, I'm confused. LOL.

I made my reply based upon my ADR booking experiences during our last Disney trip which was also a split stay. We arrived on Christmas Day 2008 for 5 nights at AKL and on December 30th we moved to GF for a further 4 nights. It is 6 years ago, so things may have changed.

The way I view it is you are staying in a WDW Resort hotel for a period of xx nights. If you stayed in the one resort for that same period then you could make up to 10 days worth of ADRs when your 180 day point arrives. If you choose to split that same period at WDW between two or more resorts why should you be penalised when it comes to making your dining bookings ?
The only thing I can think of is that Disney may view it as two separate stays (depending on how you booked), we booked ours through a UK travel agent and so it was the one vacation at two different resorts.

Food (no pun intended) for thought :)

The system changed. As they migrated to the new fast pass system and played with the updated website, it changed from a flat 180+10 to 180+the length of your stay for your reservation #. I believe this change took place in either 2013 or 2014. I know from first hand experience that it will impact anyone with a split stay. I had to deal with this issue firsthand last trip and there was nothing I could do but wait for my 2nd 180 mark to finish booking. I even called several times and got the same answer each time.
