Major Marvel Announcement Incoming!! 2 PM EDT!!

Looks like a major press release is being held by Marvel at 11AM PST/2PM EDT.

Rumors abound as to what will be publicized. This may be one/multiple of:

A) A timeline of all new Marvel movies leading to 2019/2028 (Marvel has that list inernally). DC just released their list of 20 movies till 2019.

B) Spiderman is joining the MCU, for Captain America 3 and onwards. (Apparently Sony is dissatisfied with how their reboot of "Amazing Spidey" has been going, and are finally willing to play ball with Marvel. Take a portion of the movie profits, and collaborate with Marvel, including ANOTHER reboot of the Spiderman actor.) (As crazy as this sounds, there have been solid insiders saying these things on Twitter, etc.)

C) Ms. Marvel, or a solo Black Widow movie. Marvel has promised a more female superhero central movie. Question is when, and which character. There is solid info that Ms. Marvel will show up in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

D) Cumberbatch officially being cast as Dr. Strange. The timing is right for this, after the news yesterday that he was in final negotiations.

E) Info on the upcoming Black Panther movie.

A) Doctor Strange in 2016

B) Followed by Captain America 3

C) Thor Ragnarok (3)

D) Black Panther movie

E) Followed by Captain MARVEL movie!!!! WOOT!!

F) The Inhumans in 2018

G) 2 part Avengers: INFINITY WARS. May 2018, and May 2019

Apparently Civil War is MCU not the comic version, but still great news.

Phase 3 is a go... Keep up with that DC comics!

Very cool stuff. Aside from the inhumans and avengers 3 being 2 part, everything else was pretty much hinted at or pretty strongly rumored. It is nice to have the dates all ironed out so we know what is coming. I wonder how the 2 part avengers 3 will go. I didn't hear they signed RDJ or anyone else to an extra movie. So does that mean some of them don't make it to the 2nd part? Should be a fun 4 yrs in the MCU!

I believe there's been some considerable chatter around an Inhumans film recently as Marvel has announced plans to really push them in the comics, and there were rumors of AoU being split into 2 parts (since debunked). With as epic as the Infinity Gauntlet saga was and all of the characters they'll have to juggle in the cinematic version, I'm not a surprised they're going to 2 parts.

Regarding your question about their contracts, that's actually a really good point. I would imagine since they're most likely going to film both parts congruently, the contract applies as if both parts are 1 movie. Doesn't mean one (or more) characters could get the axe at the end of Part 1, though.

Big questions remaining to be answered-
1) Since they confirmed BP will be appearing in CA:CW, could he be replacing Spidey in the pivotal "caught in the middle" role?
2) Is Ragnarok referring to the storyline or the character? If it's the storyline, obvious implications for Avengers 3:1 and 2.
3) Will Antman be in any of the Phase 3 films?
4) No Planet Hulk?!? Would have worked perfectly to have him join the Infinity War with the Avengers and GotG following the events of that story.

Speculation/rumor is that many of the current avengers sit out part 1 and rejoin for part 2.

There have been rumors floating around that GotG 2 will be Planet Hulk...sort of. Just like Cap 3 is Civil War...sort of.
