Here is the situation.

We have trip booked for the last week of October with another family. We have hit some unexpected finacial stubles recently and we might have to cancel our trip. Here is the problem. Our friends have already booked airfare so they are locked in. We have all of our dining reservations booked, but they are attached to my main reservation and not our friends. Can we switch who the ADR's are attached to? Please tell me this is possible. Our final payment is due in a little over two weeks so we are getting down to decision making time.

Canceling the resort reservations will not cancel the dining reservatinos. They are two seperate systems. However, they will have to check in under your name at restaurants. I do not believe you can transfer dining ressies from one person to another.

if you cancel your resort reservation and like missingdisney said your dining reservations will not be canceled so you can just give your friend the reservation number and they can just go and say your name, they do not check id when you check into the reservation

Be careful if you had to hold the reservation with a credit card. If your friends don't show or only part of the party shows up, you will be charged a fee.

You can check to see if there are still reservations available and have your friends make new ones. Then you can cancel your reservations. As long as you aren't trying to go to Le Cellier, there will probably be reservations available. I was able to make them for New Year's Eve only 2 weeks in advance.

With free dining, this might be rough. I tried to book dining reservations for late november/early december (non-holiday times) and many of the better restaurants were booked solid. Even resort restaurants only had dinner times available at 8pm or later.

Like other posters said though, your friends can simply use your name and your confirmation number for the ADRs.

I didn't even think about that.....can we lower the number of people for the reservation without canceling the entire thing?

Not true. As long as at least some of the party shows up, you are not charged for the others. It's on the cancellation policy.

You are right! Sorry about that, OP. They do still need to show up for any that you have reservation with a credit card though or you will be charged.
