Does anyone know what the names of the period characters that wander Main Street, USA?

I'm looking for what the group in general is called, I may be making this up, but I was pretty sure that as a whole they had a name. And also what their individual names are i.e. The Mayor.

are you speaking of Mayor Weaver of Main Street?

They are the Main Street Citizens, headed up by Mayor Weaver. There are many characters, possibly 20+ in all. I don't know all the names.
