Main St. Vehicles

Does anyone know what remains of Main St. vehicles?
The last 2 times I have been to the MK I have not seen anything, especially the horse drawn trolleys. I have had people tell me that they are still there, but have not seen them 05/00 and 05/01.
I am sure that the Omnibuses and the old time cars that used to haul people up and down Main St. are gone, but would love confirmation.

They are all still there...well they were in December. They only run in the mornings when the park opens. They have the horse trolleys, double decker busses, the 1920's style car, and sometimes even the antique fire truck.

I remember a bit of a gap of time not seeing them, but this past trip a whole bunch of them were out and about... the horses, the firetrucks and such :sohappy:

Fantastic, that is really good to hear!
Have you ever noticed on the horse's
harness they have their names embossed
in the leather.
I can remember seeing a Tom and a D_ck,
(only way I could get the name to post)
we assumed that there must have been a
Harry as well.

The best is when the horse carriages come driving by and we hop on the back while they are moving. Your not supposed to but who wants to waste time waiting.

I saw the horse trolley last month, be sure to watch your step behind them. You could end up with a suprise all over your shoe.

You know, I've been to the world about 10 times, and I have never ridden the Main St Vehicles. Is it worth it? It just seems like such a short ride. Do they just take you from one end of Main St to the other, or is it a round trip?

"I think they only operate during the busy season (ironically, they can hit more people with the vehicles )"

Acctually they are more likey to run them in the off season, mainy for the reason you sited.

And when they do run, they only run for a few hours until around noon.

By then it is usually to hot for the horses. Sometimes the cars will come out again some after the parade, in the slow time of year, but if your not there for the 1st few hours the park is open you are not going to have a chance to see them.

I know that this might seem weird to ressurect a three year dead thread, but I didn't want to start a new thread if there was already an applicable one.

I finally rode one of the main street vehicles back on April 2-3, 2005. At the time they only had one running, and the operator told me it was called the Omnibus. It was a double-decker old-style bus. I know that there are four other vehicles a Fire engine, a horseless carriage, a horse drawn carriage (those three are easy to picture and understand) and a Jitney. What does the Jitney look like? How is it different from the Omnibus? Does anybody have any pictures of it?

It's a very cool thing to do, forget about it being just a short trip, you're there to enjoy the magic and the little special things that you can't do elsewhere.

Right On! Glad to hear you rode one. I have seen and riden them as well since I originaly posted this thread. I love the Omnibuses and horse drawn trolley the most.

I can remember using the Omnibus to get from one land to another in the MK as well as around World Showcase. Back when they opened WS it seemed sooo far around the lake, now it doesn't seem all that far, to me at least (not to say that I won't take the boat across if I need to get to Italy quickly ;-)

I rode one for the very first time on my last trip down... it was in the firetruck on the afternoon of 5/5/05! It was just completely random because it had never really occurred to me to actually take a trip in one... it was a nice pleasant ride down Main Street. :)
