Magicbands for those Outside United States

So after quite some time with the phone reps, we solved the following problem...

After checking in online I could customize MBs and make FP+ resos. However, when getting to the confirm shipping address in the MB portion online, I would get an error message. It clearly states that if you live outside the US you can customize MBs but they will ship your MBs to your resort front desk for pick up upon check in. It then asks to verify your shipping address, which is your home address by default. If you click to confirm this you will get an error message. The only way around this is to change your shipping address to your resort's address. Then you can confirm shipping and move into customizing. After that everything should work fine.

The same thing kept happening to me with the error message but I kept trying and within 24 hours, it was accepting my address and I could customise them but being outside the States, it just said that they would be available for collection when we check in at the resort.

I have just put in the resort address and phone number. It says shipped now so we will see what happens in 2 weeks time when we get there on whether it worked!

Mine are customized, but next to the listing where it says MagicBand Order (then beside that the reservation number) then beside that, where it originally had the days left to customize it now says Act quickly, your order may ship at any moment. I am also not in the States. Does anyone know if it stays that way until you arrive? I am now less than 2 weeks to go (about 10 or 11 days till i arrive)

So did you get the customised bands or did you get the dull grey ones?

Just arrived and magic bands were here. Mine for some reason wasn't customised despite doing online but my husbands is but we did get the colours we ordered. So for all those outside theUS we input the hotel address and phone number when we customised. Hope that helps some of you out

Thanks, I just had a look on my Disney Experience to double check everything was ok, as we had already customized them - but what do we find - 3 grey bands back there again! So I have customized them again and put the Hotel as the shipping address and fingers crossed we will get the colours we choose!

I did email Disney for some help with this -- twice but I havent had any response at all from them. Fat lot of good that was! So i hope that they are all the colours that we requested when we get there we are 10 days out so I am not holding my breath. :(

They should really be more proactive about shipping the MBs to those of us outside the US.

It can't be too difficult to write some lines of code detecting country of origin and then a pop up a window saying "We detected you live outside the Unite States of America, your bands will be customized and shipped to your resort, where you can pick them up when checking in." An OK button confirms shipping to the resort, a cancel button gives the option to ship somewhere inside the US.

Yep something that needs sorting out as soon as possible!
I'm a DVC member - yep one of a few in the UK and I feel it's really quite negative that the bands can't be shipped to the UK. Hell they ship all my member booklets out to me!
I really do think that's an idea you have there - I mean to save carbon footprints etc I would always choose to pick up at the resort but I want to be confident what I choose is waiting for me and right when I get there.

I've been looking into DVC myself and one of my goals for next trip is to visit a couple DVC resorts. I know it's not limited to US residents but I'm still somewhat confused on how it works for foreigners. It seems like a good investment, specially since you can rent your points when you don't have plans to visit sometime soon. Sorry for the off-topic rambling!

Disney KNOW they have a lot of international visitors (UK, Canada and Brazil combined make almost 50% of all their guests) and they absolutely should make more simple for us to get our bands. I actually prefer to have them shipped to the resort than having to deal with Brazilian Customs mess but having the guest input the resort's address can be challenging for those not as savvy as us who are used to forums like this one.

I believe that the DVC works the same for overseas members as it does for those in the US! :)
If you think about it - a flight costs circa £600 for us to fly from the uk, coupled with a ticket for 2 weeks, then accommodation and spending money your talking over £2grand for us to stay in the disney resort - each! So expensive really is you multiply that by your family group size! Dvc membership pays for itself in 2 trips nearly for a family of 4!
Still have annual dues to pay but really it's a guaranteed holiday every year if you plan it roght and if you don't fancy disney there's always something else with RCI that you can use your points on, Europe; Paris, London or Austria n skiing! Well worth it I feel. :)
