MagicBand 2... Still Available in the Parks?

Hi folks. I'm going to WDW in early February for the first time in a year. I think it's a safe bet that my old MagicBand's battery is probably dead at this point, because I've had it for 3+ years now. Time for a new one.

Are MagicBand 2's still available to be bought in the parks? I usually only see one or two, if any, on the Disney website -- the rest are MagicBand+, and I just don't care about paying extra for the vibrating and light-up features. A classic ole' MagicBand 2 is what I really want, even in a simple color.

Many thanks

Magic Bands use NFC so will still function to enter parks, hotel rooms and make charges. My original magic band from 2015 still works fine, no need to buy a new one as long as your bands are still linked and active on your account.

When the battery dies, all that stops working is ride photos linking automatically and things like the goodbye screens at It’s a Small World and screens in Everest queue won’t register you, though these haven’t been working in years it seems.

If you're not picky; the Ms Marvel and Figment 2022 Flower and Garden are currently on sale on Shop Disney, with an extra 25% off the reduced price, and Free Shipping today.

I know the options you can select in advance when staying at a hotel seem to keep getting more and more limited. We had selected seven Magic Band 2s for our group of seven and now, a few weeks later, only three of the bands we had selected are still available with the other four saying "MagicBand is currently sold out". As of right now, if you are staying at a hotel and want to get your magic band in advance (with the pre-arrival discount you can get) The options are as follows:

(Pricing Shown is the discounted Pre-Arrival Price)

Magic Band Plus: (82.1% of available choices)
  • $24.99: 12 options (15.4% of available choices)
  • $34.99: 52 options (66.7% of available choices)
Magic Band 2: (17.9% of available choices)
  • $10: 5 options (6.4% of available choices)
  • $15: 1 option (1.3% of available choices)
  • $20: 2 options (2.6% of available choices)
  • $25: 6 options (7.7% of available choices)
Not sure if these numbers are because most people are buying the MagicBand 2s and they legitimately can't keep up stock or if they are being a bit more sinister and are intentionally keeping supply of the Magic Bands 2 to be more limited to push people to buying Magic Band+.

Just a quick update on this a month and a half later...

Magic Band Plus: (88.6% of available choices)
  • $24.99: 12 options (17.1% of available choices)
  • $34.99: 49 options (70.0% of available choices)
  • $39.99: 1 option (1.4% of available choices)
Magic Band 2: (11.4% of available choices)
  • $10: 0 options (0% of available choices)
  • $15: 0 options (0% of available choices)
  • $20: 2 options (2.9% of available choices)
  • $25: 6 options (8.6% of available choices)
There are no solid color Magic Band 2s available anymore for purchase as part of the pre-arrival deal. Seems logical that (with Disneyland only using MagicBand+), they will likely phase out Magic Band 2 sooner rather than later. If you want a Magic Band 2, you'll pay (at minimum) $20 in the park, or, you can get a solid color MagicBand+ in advance for $5 more.
