Magical Moments and REAL secrets

-At Hollywood Studios, when you first enter the park, head to your left to Sid Cahuenga's One of a Kind shop. You'll see a trivia board out front. If you can get all the trivia questions right, go inside & tell the CM. If you're right, you get a Magical Moments certificate. I've done this one a few times, most recently in May 2011.

Thanks for this tip, never heard of it before, will have to try it for myself when I go there next month. Always wanted to get a Magical Moments certificate.

I didn't know either until a friend told me. Sometimes the trivia is really difficult! It's always been movie oriented when I went. Last time it was 5 or 6 questions all about Pirates of the Caribbean. I only knew a few, but DH knew the rest. Sometimes I look at the board and I don't know anything! Good luck ~ let me know how you do!! :)

As far as I know, unless they fixed something, the sword no longer works. When I was an Entertainment Tech at MK in 2008, one of the guys asked me if I had ever seen the spot where the release control was for the sword. I said no, so he took me to it. It's a window where you can view the sword from (I can't remember which building it's in, but it's a 2nd floor window and I could point it out if I saw it). There was a cue given to the tech and he would release the "brake" so the sword could be pulled. When he showed me the control panel, the wires had been cut in a way so they couldn't be easily connected (so no one could mess with it and release the sword).

Never heard of this room on the second floor being used to control the sword, but we still operate the sword daily.

I know there is still a magical moment that takes place at It's A Small World. It usually involves a kid but they take them up to the dispatch tower and allow them them to wave the boats forward on the attraction. I believe they give them a certificate certifyng them as a "Junior Disney Cruise Director" Kind of cute.
Never seen this! Neat!:)

I don't know if this counts but in 2006 my husband and I got to ride in the front of the monorail with the CM controller (it was in Sept. during the week, the park was empty) and when we were getting off he gave us 2 cards that said we were now captains or drivers of the monorail- or something to that affect. I don't remember exactly and I wish I saved the cards. I hear that you can no longer ride in the front of the monorail. Is that true?
It's true due to the accident (a driver died).:( I have the cards that say Monorail Copilots from 2 years ago.

The jump rope cards before the parade.
The guest conductor cards "All Aboard" on WDWRR.
Ask Guitar Dan to sing a song especially for you (Rafikis Planet Watch AK).
Watch the ladies make candy (DHS) and they may come out w/ a little marshmallow treat!:p
Talk to the CMs- you never know what magical moments will happen!:D

My favorite thing to do. Talk with all the Cm's... You learn so much. You can tell witch Cm's have the gift of gab and witch ones are approachable. They all are approachable but some just have that come talk to me look on their face lol...

One thing I always tell my friends is LISTEN to the CMs. When I was a CM, many times (this was during 2008 when you had the Dream Squad out at the parks giving out stuff), I would try and "suggest" people to go do certain things or go to a certain attraction because I knew the Dream Squad was there at that time. I couldn't tell them why, but I told them, "it would improve your visit today." I can't count how many wouldn't listen to what I said and miss getting a Dream Fastpass for the day (which was funny because usually, I would catch them in the morning when they were running to get a Fastpass for something).

Do they still give out Dream Fast passes?

Haha be careful with this. Some front line cast members either plain make crap up or just greatly overestimate the amount of confidential information that TWDC chooses to share with the ride operator at Mission Space: Green. College Programmers are often the worst offenders.

I honestly don't know. I haven't been back since 2008 when I left. We are returning to WDW this September, but as far as I have heard they aren't doing them anymore. I'm sure someone else here can give you a more concrete answer.

Ill be home also in late september. Im hoping for a fast pass during this trip. I got to use my PR personality to get me some free stuff :)

they also have one where you get your own boat to yourself or your family/ party. My friend and i had this happen. It was early january when the park wasnt crowded. I liked the gesture, however, i didnt like the feeling of not having anyone in boats in front or behind you for quite a few boats.

There was a puzzle in the Mousegears shop in EPCOT on the CMs counter that I saw one time and I can never resist a puzzle so I asked if I could look at it... tried (in vain sadly it was really hard lol) to solver it for must have been five minutes.... and suddenly the CM gave me a Magical Moments certificate.

The coolest one we ever got was for being the 1st DVC family to EVER check in to the Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary Resort in 2009... framed and on the wall here :)

During our trip earlier this month, my daughter was talking to a CM in the PORS gift shop (Fulton's General Store). On the counter at the back of the store is a trivia board. Well, my daughter scored an 11 out of 12. The CM was so impressed with this that she gave her a Magical Moments Card. Very cool experience for us.

A few years ago when I took my girls there we were waiting in line for the AK to open and a CM came out and pulled me and my daughter aside and asked if she would be interested in Opening up (turning the key) to the AK gates. We were thrilled and we took great photos of her doing this! This was a favorite Magical Moment experience for my family!

This was not like getting cool certificates but non the less a good time and a magical moment for my family. This past March my family and I went on Space Mountain and when we finished the ride we were asked by a CM if we would like to ride it once again because of how much fun we were having. The CM took us through a private entrance and we were able to leap to the very front of the line. I have never seen this happen before.

Well, I'll be honest. I did not read all of the posts, so if I'm repeating, please excuse my ignorance.
Here are a list of some of my personal favorites:
1. The key under the mat at Muppet*Vision 3D.
2. The wedding ring in the pavement outside the HM. If you can't find it, just ask a CM.
3. The Main Street Windows, for us Walt buffs.
4. The Brown Derby. Not a secret, but the most magical part of my trips. They often give me fastpasses for rides that have run out, i.e. Toy Story Mania, or other little surprises, followed by a magical, "You're in Hollywood, baby."
5. The phone booths around Epcot, stop and answer one. Or, for those of you at home, call one and chat with a stranger.
6. As you enter the MK, there is a hat store all the way to right, adjacent to Tony's. There is a phone is the back of the shop. Pick it up.
7. The paw prints outside Tony's.
8. The well outside of Epic.
There are many more that I have, but the best piece of advice I can give is this: Even though there is a ton to do, and not enough time to do it all, just stand around. Something will happen. A street show, a song, a dance, anything! Something magical will happen.

On our last trip we had ADR's for dinner at Liberty Tree in MK. Our ADR was for just at 4pm. We arrived about 20 minutes or so early and after we checked in we just took a seat in the foyer by the fireplace. A CM came over and asked if our family would like to be the official family to open the dining room for Dinner. They asked our family name and where we were from and then took us up on the balcony and gave us a bell to ring. They announced us as the "Official" family and announced our name and where we were from. Then we got to ring the dinner bel and sing "Hear Ye, Hear Ye...." and open the dining room. What a blast it was and our then 2 teen daughters had a blast. We go a magical moment card naming us an "Official Family".
